Official 2016 Boxing Thread: 11/5/2016 - Vargas/Pacquiao Top Rank PPV.

So Golovkin-Wade is official? That makes two Haymon fights on HBO announced this week. I'm starting to think Hopkin's mystery opponent could be Beterbiev or Stevenson.

Based on what Hopkins has said, my main guess was GGG, followed by DeGale or Stevenson, with the latter two being unlikely due to the HBO/Haymon situation. However, now those two guys seem like the best candidates IMO (I think Beterbiev is still injured)..

How about the WBC doing what they should and stop allowing these "smaller" fighters to fight for and defend belts at a lower weight.

Choose a weight class and fight at it or drop to a lower weight class.

And Oscar is only fooling himself to if he thinks anybody believes Canelo isn't a true middleweight.

Oscar should just say Canelo won't be ready to fight middleweights until he's comfortable taking a punch from somebody that isn't a lot smaller than him.

Khan should be studying the Lara, Maywheather, and Cotto fights. The blueprint is there.
He's got a major speed advantage, but if he decides to stay in the pocket and starts trading blows...it might be a short night.

I dont think thats going to help him one bit, all 3 of those fights had tainted scorecards. Khans not winning this one on the cards, and hes definitely not knocking canelo out.

He has speed but has no where near the type of boxing skills, defense, ring IQ or movement that Lara and Floyd do. Not even close.

I wouldn't say major speed advantage, especially if he comes in the ring blown up like a balloon

I'm not high on canelo anymore.

He only beat cotto bc he was bigger. He didn't show much skill in that fight.

vS His best competition (trout, Floyd, Lara, & cotto) he has been out boxed 3 outta 4 and debatable vs trout.

This. He hasn't shown much improvement. However, his size will carry the day with Khan. Virgil Hunter has helped him improve but Khan still has glaring wholes in his defense and resorts to throwing caution to the wind far too often.

Yeah the fact that even Mayweather had a 114-114 score in there lets me know that Khan's chances of a decision are slim to none unless he really puts it on Canelo. And IMO Lara and Trout both beat him but whatever. Khan has to fight the best fight of his life to win this.

Khan would need multiple knockdowns or a knockout to win. If your last name isn't Mayweather you aren't getting the decision against that guy.

Canelo needs to work strictly on his footwork the next few months. Khan can steal early rounds because Canelo starts slow and late rounds because Canelo gases out. Canelo is most dangerous in the middle rounds, which is when Khan should be selective and move more.

Yeah if anyone could pull off an "upset" its Khan but he's not knocking out Canelo and we already know those score cards are going to be suspect even if he fights his *** off.

Outboxed by one.

Outran by the other.

Clearly beat Cotto.

Trout was a close fight.

"not high on Canelo anymore"

You've never been high on him. You've always hated. You even compared him to Margarito.

:smh:

Man idk about not showing any skill in the Cotto fight. He slipped the left hook from Cotto many times and countered beautifully. He used numerous types of feints whether it be the jab or right hand to open up Cotto and landed some big power shots. He cut off the ring decent enough. All this coming from a huge Cotto supporter. Looked like Bane vs Batman in there.
