Official 2016 Boxing Thread: 11/5/2016 - Vargas/Pacquiao Top Rank PPV.

That's what I been telling everybody, especially these "TMT" D-Riders here in Vegas.

Floyd fought once a year when he was making real money. McGregor will fight 3,4,5x a year. Making $30-40 Million a fight?

And if it goes his way, he'll get a share of UFC? Plus making $40Ms per fight?

:x :smh:

 I knew this dude was coming flying in with the cape.

Anyway, I'll put a few hundred on Krusher... they got him as the underdog! :smokin

was*

at least in a pure skills sense.  He never did and probably will have the crossover appeal that the faces of this sport usually garner.

We are now almost 5 years removed from his last S6 and world class fight against Froch, and 4 years removed from Dawson if you consider a weight drained Dawson world class.

Yeah his mayweather appeal never materialize. Similar to Roy Jones. Roy was a little more of a showman, and one of the greats. Ward might eventually get there, He needs to start fighting and beating guys like KK. My question is after this fight, where does he go from here??
Stevenson?
Beterviev or bringing up a 168.  Al's saving Stevenson for Beterviev.  Why do you think there has never been really any talk of a Stevenson-Pascal fight even though both dudes are Hatians from Montreal?  Al's saving dude until he can cash him out against one of his guys.  He knows what he has.

How does he do with endorsements?  Floyd never really capitalized on his endorsement potential but I'm not sure with how the UFC operates if Connor is allowed much latitude in that area.

he has/had no endorsement potential

no hate...

just the way he was...the role he chose to play turned potential opportunities away.

but he made it all back in the ring. and more.

didn't jordan brand pick him up and drop him for a brief time?

Nah, you just didn't know what you were talking about with 40 million per fight [emoji]128514[/emoji]

Nah bruh  You just a Floyd D Rider.

McGregor already stated himself he made $40 million in 2015.

Who was his only big fight? Aldo right?

I'll take his word on how much he makes before you guys. After all it's HIS money.

Floyd is the #3 highest earning athlete in their career across all sports in history behind only Tiger Woods and Michael Schumacher with $700 mil+.  Floyd only took sponsorship money starting at the Manny fight with Burger King, Fanduel and Hublot.  Someone like Lebron and maybe some other big athletes will pass Floyd in career earnings when they're done but Conor isn't going to get anywhere close.

Did he also tell you he fought 6 times in 18 months?

And for the record you said 30-40 mil per fight, not year.

The Mendes fight was also big. Was for an interim belt.

Partially though because it was built up by Aldo before he pulled out.

This really does belong in another thread. But some of the things you're saying seem off base.

Conor is not making 40mill a fight

The quote 50 is referring to is from the first UFC 205 press conference when Conor said he will be closing in on a 40mill year by the end of the year.

He's probably seeing like $10-15mill per fight after ppv shares I'm guessing.

Before I get reported for MMA talk... I got Kovalev :nerd:

So Vegas has +135 Ward -115 Kovalev.

I already bet my friend $100 on Kovalev. Should I place $200 in Casino?

Can't believe you bet against ward. But whatever it's your money lol

You can replace Ward with Kovalev and it would sound equally crazy. No one can really be supremely confident in either fighter and I don't think many are bold enough to bet a car or house on it.

Lomachenko opened up around -400 and he's as high as -800 now. If you really think it is a 50-50 fight then you'll probably find it worth a shot to put some on Walters(I'm not in that boat FWIW)

ya im just watching the fight...im not going to bet on either one... actually im not confident in betting on any boxer unless its money

Wow that much? Guess I'll put another 100 on Axe.

EDIT:  Just saw Alex Ariza at my local gym. He was training Thomas Dulorme.

If the fight is relatively close and goes to the cards, who benefits from home cooking?  Most would probably say Ward because he is an American, but Kovalev might actually be worth more to Vegas/HBO with a win.

His deal with HBO is probably much cheaper, and he has a much more entertaining style.

If it's true that Kovalev has a rematch clause that probably changes that whole dynamic though.

That reminds me I'm going to laugh hysterically if it ends in a draw, because a lot of games and fights I've bet on lately have ended that way. That will probably be the best result for Vegas and HBO.
