Official 2016 Boxing Thread: 11/5/2016 - Vargas/Pacquiao Top Rank PPV.

I don't know if AB would've ever been THAT good tho. He was able to stand right in front of the little guys at 130 and 135 and bully them which is why he looked so amazing, but once he stepped up to 147 all that **** stopped. Even DSG Matthyse or Crawford at 140 would've wrecked him IMO. He's good but far from great.

It's hard to say. He is very gifted, but obviously not in the same class as Mayweather or Roy Jones, who should be considered superhuman. We've seen others accomplish much more with less natural ability than AB. Like Froch and Bradley made it so far off sheer will and determination. Well, they both have great chins, so that helped. AB also has a great chin and quick hands. Sure Maidana knocked him down a couple times, but he wasn't even protecting himself. Anyone else would've went down and stayed down from those shots. I believe AB is more gifted than DSG, Matthysse, and Crawford. Unfortunately, I doubt he can beat any of them right now.

See but Froch has a rock solid chin and hits like a mule, Pascal is on record saying Froch is the biggest puncher he's ever faced, and I'm sure you could find others who agree. I would consider that combo of elite power and an elite chin way more of a gift than just AB's fast hands. Bradley I can kind of agree with although he's pretty damn athletic, he has good foot speed and his hands are decently fast also. DSG hits harder than AB and has a better chin, Matthysse has elite level power, Crawford hits harder and has a ring IQ that Broner will never have. I would consider all three of those at least about equally or more gifted than AB in their own ways.

AB isn't that physically gifted, he just isn't who people thought he was. He has fast hands and a really good chin but brings nothing else to the table at a high level. Doesn't have good or elite power. No ring IQ. Doesn't punch with any sort of volume. Defense is awful. Doesn't move his feet.

He's a decent fighter and can dominate the right matchup but he's more at gate keeper level. Anyone world class is beating him bad at 140 and up.

Yeah, basically what I'm saying. Although I won't even say Broner has a really good chin, it's good though. His biggest asset is his hand speed but hand speed isn't the end all be all, especially when you have holes in your game like he does.

What's the point of having hand speed when the most you ever throw is a One-two?

[emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji] "Assault & Battery" has many issues one was never finding an identity.

What does he do exceptionally well? Why does he fight so flat footed? Why one punch at a time? Why no head movement? Who is his coach and why haven't they addressed any of his issues? He fights the same way every fight, Zero adjustments

Valez impressed me with his resiliency.

Kid gonna need some

Oh, how I've missed the hugging world champion.

I hope he does fight Kovalev, he will get wrecked.

didnt even know about this fight until i checked the thread... but watching this fight for the first time from the 9th round and ward is controlling the fight as usual :pimp:

Low blows and hugs, a masterclass in the Virgil Hunter school of boxing.

Kovalev will end Andre Ward's LHW ambitions.

Damn, Andre Ward is pretty good, I bet Tyson Fury watched this fight, and turned the TV off after seeing the knock down and went to bed. No way will Tyson Fury will want to go to Oakland and fight this man, he stay duckin'.

Ward would beat GGG for the simple fact that GGG is a lot smaller. He's weighing in at 164 thirty days out from a 160 fight, and people want home to fight at 168? His coach may have talked about it and GGG might've said he'd do it after cleaning out MW, but there really is no point to them fighting. Ward would win on points in a boring fight, traditional Ward style.

^ the irony though saying ward would beat triple G because hes the bigger fighter.. but yet triple g wants to fight floyd at 154 but i still think floyd would beat him... regardless though i think ward is underrated and should be the #1 pound for pound imo
