I'm told Deontay Wilder likely to fight Charles Martin instead of Povetkin. Not sure if it's a unification or just for IBF title #boxing

'J Rock' Williams to fight title eliminator on  @SHOsports tripleheader. My blog:  http://espn.go.com/blog/dan-rafael/...t-title-eliminator-in-tripleheader-main-event … #boxing @Jrockboxing

The young guys at 154 can make some interesting fights even without Canelo. Andrade, J-Roc, Liam Smith, and the Charlo's need to duke it out. But knowing today's climate, they'd probably rather protect their 0's.

J Rock seems like he's about it.  Hopefully Charlo don't duck him and move to MW.

Renowned #boxing trainer Richie Giachetti died on Wednesday at age 76. Here  is the obituary I wrote: http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/14718606/former-larry-holmes-trainer-richie-giachetti-dies-76 … #RIP

I was asked  by a writer for comment on Richie Giachetti, who just died. i said, "i'll decline, I was told to never speak ill of the dead,"

When it comes to Khan vs Canelo, all I could think of was this... And you know damn well Khan ain't Toguro lol.

All of these guys are taking the safe approach. J-Rock is fighting a no-name next month. Even Tony Harrison, who Willie Nelson knocked out half a year ago is taking more of a risk fighting Fernando Guerrero.

Anyone think this ppv will sell over 500k

Canelo vs Angulo/Lara sold 350/400K, Khan has a bigger following than both so I think it will sell over 500K.

Easily. It is on Cinco De Mayo weekend and it was breaking news on Monday when it was announced. The hype is already greater than Canelo vs Cotto ever was. I'm predicting somewhere between 1 and 1.2.

Im thinking 700k

Its not east to gauge because Khan has never been on PPV so we don't know how much he brings in.

After Amir's dynamite performance against Algieri and his masterful 2 rounds against Danny Garcia, I expect record breaking PPV numbers.

Anyone who buys that PPV is either a fool or really loves either fighter. No grey area lol

Might watch it at Buffalo Wild Wings or wait a week to see it on HBO. Khan gon get slaughtered tho lol

Canelo vs Cotto happened at the worse time possible. If it took place on Cinco De Mayo or Mexican Independence day, it would've done better numbers. UFC and Boxing are apples and oranges, but fight fans in general might've been swayed to spend their budget on Rousey-Holm and McGregor-Aldo fights instead, which were 1-2 of weeks apart from Canelo-Cotto. Not to mention neither the promoters nor HBO lifted a finger to promote the fight. So I wouldn't put too much weight behind the 900k sales.

The "hype" for this is really bigger than Canelo/Cotto?

If by hype you mean a bunch of people surprised the fight is happening and saying "RIP Khan", then maybe.

 word. I would think most people are expecting this to go 4 or 5 rounds max. No way in hell I'm paying ppv prices for this

Fully expect Canelo to catch Khan at some point and put him to sleep.

That said Khan is my boy and I'm def rooting for him to pull off the improbable.

Hype is def going to be bigger for this than Cotto vs Canelo.

Couple reasons.

1. Khan has a huge following in the UK. This is by far the biggest fight of his career. It's going to do numbers.

2. Khan much like Pacquiao in the Philippines, is a folk-hero in his country of heritage (Pakistan).

He might not have a huge following in the U.S. but trust & believe bro, this fight is going to do very well abroad.

Most of us here probably see it as a mismatch. But Khan's army won't be discouraged by the technicalities that we see like the weight and Khan's mediocre performance against Algieri. They will be motivated by their emotions, logic and practicality go out the window. They will do anything to show their support. From now until the fight, Amir Khan will make as many headlines as Kanye West and Donald Trump just off running his mouth. This is in complete contrast to Miguel Cotto who barely says a word and Roc Nation did nothing to promote the fight.

Khan's heart is def going to get the best of him, ditto his overzealousness. If he fights smart and stays on the outside using his superior hand-speed he might have an outside shot at an upset decision. We know Canelo can get complacent at times, Khan needs to steal rounds by taking advantage of the lulls in Canelo's output.

But we all know he's a sucker for that left hook, he just never sees it coming. He gets overzealous throwing his combos and always gets caught.

For Khan to win he needs to really fight a perfect fight. He cannot allow lapses in his defense getting overly aggressive.
