2016 Academy Awards/Oscars - Nominees Announced Today - February 28th

Yea him not being nominated for The Departed or Shutter Island doesn't make sense

He was good in the departed but he was part of an ensemble that included Nicholson, Damon, Wahlberg, etc. you can't single out Leo cuz they were all good in that movie.

Shutter Island was released in like February so it missed the Oscar cutoff or some ish probably

I hear you but for me its like Marky Mark actually got a supporting actor nod . Both Leo and Jack were worthy imo

Facts  def didn't deserve it for this role

Glad I'm not alone in that. He should of won for previous movies but the revanant was just ok to me . I understand the hard work it took to make it and for any movie , but I enjoyed the Martian way more . I'm use the Bill Simmons model of Matt and Leo switched roles the revanant would of been just as good but the Martian probally wouldn't have .
Terrible model.

That's just a distraction to hide that you think Matt is better than Leo and that's just an opinion.

His whole campaign was built on how hard it was to film the movie in the conditions and what not. Really his producer and pr team the real mvps for politicking
No it wasn't that was what everybody chose to talk about and ask him questions about.

Aint his fault nobody wanted to talk about the story of the movie.
I like how an ENTIRE ROOM of actors and movie professionals stood for Leo's victory, but dudes in here got cross words.

'Pity Award.'

'He wasn't even that good.'

'Weak field.'

Meanwhile, an entire room of folks in the business giving props.

Everybody always stands up for a lifetime achievement award.
So I guess Leo will be the first to get 2 of those from the same Academy  You know he getting one in his 60s.

Wolf of wall street wasn't nominated?

One of my favorite movies of all time.

I've covered it in the past, but Leo was never really snubbed. He lost to equally deserving actors in the past.. in roles they weren't going to be beaten in. Whitaker in Last King of Scotland, Foxx in Ray, and Matthew McConaughey in Dallas Buyers.. Leo wasn't beating those guys in those years. He wasn't being snubbed, he just had bad luck.

I also call snubbed with not being nominated. I'm surprised there's only 5-6 films that he's been nominated for

the best part of tonight is no one will ever talk about that poorly acted snoozefest of a movie ever again

Gonna need your predictions next year Zik :nerd:
Honestly  I gotta say what benefited me this year was simply watching the majority of the movies instead of a few by fav ppl and just picking the one I liked best.

I saw all of Best Picture, Best Actor, and 2 or 3 for Best Actress. Got most of the supporting.

Thinking on it I just really didn't think Rylance would've won. If I thought he had a shot I would've at least said Ruffalo will win while Rylance should win.

Imma try to do it again next year for sure :smokin

Now that Leo finally has an Oscar, he should start making different types of movies. Like work with an unknown director, make a rom-com (ala Silver Linings), do a big budget action/super hero flick

exclusively working with the best directors in the business is leo's "thing" though

major part of why he's overrated as an actor and so many people like him

I was also pretty pleased I managed to see a majority of the movies this year. Last year I did pretty good in seeing all of them, but this year the only ones I didn't see was Joy (which is surprising since I love David O Russell), 45 years, and I think that's it.

You right now that I think about it. Most of the directors he works with are legends/will be legends.

With the exception of Baz Lurhmann. I was surprised he actually agreed to play Gatsby tbh

He worked with Baz with Romeo + Juliet before, so I'm sure that had something to do with it.

What's everyone's favorite Leonardo DiCaprio film?

I'm going with Inception

thats really tough.

i watched 'the Departed' so many times that i legit memorized everyones lines.

I related to Leo's Frank Abagnale in 'Catch Me If You Can' so much at a time in my life, so that movie is up there too.

Leo was amazing in as Howard Hughes in the Aviator as well.

Danny Archer in Blood Diamond :smokin

Breh Leo in Django cut his own damn hand and kept the scene rolllin like it was nothing

i cant pick one :smh:
