2016 Academy Awards/Oscars - Nominees Announced Today - February 28th

did starwars even send out any screeners?

only place it got robbed was not getting the costume design nod

it had by far the best costume designs of the past 5 years

Surprised at "Star Wars" not getting many nominations. Maybe it came out too late.
The Revenant came out Christmas Day.  Star Wars came out before The Revenant.

They probably didn't submit.

Or, imo, I didn't think this series of Star Wars was that good. The acting was 'eh'. So maybe it didn't deserve an Oscar.

What did MBJ do that was so worth of a nomination?

Now Sam L on the other hand... :smh:
No QT for best ORIGINAL screenplay jeez
He didn't do anything I don't think the movie was Oscar worthy period. My point was if you were going to nominate someone from the movie it should've been MBJ

nah, they already covered that base with Jared Leto (deservedly so) 2 years ago

also would you guys be in favor of them increasing the number of nominees when necessary in the acting categories like they do with Best Picture?

hopefully so. im pulling for Leo.

i dont think they should add any more nominees. cheapens the feeling of being an academy award nominee.

Can't take anything away from Matt Damon. He spent most of the movie acting opposite himself, or a potato, or a bucket of **** etc.

I was surprised that Sam L was left out. I guess his role was too small for Best Actor and too big for Best Supporting Actor. Only thing I can think of, because he was great.

Sam L was robbed, I'd go out on a limb to say Walter Groggins was robbed too of ATLEAST a nomination. The only time Sam was noticeably missing offscreen was when he was helping outside with the horses, but even then he had a scene dealing with that. There was also that entire chapter but even then, the characters involved were secondary.

If Viola Davis can be nominated for her role in Doubt(supporting), which she only had 2 scenes in... Sam L and/or Walter should've atleast been recognized for the work.

i'm not joking. two other entities with a lot of the same members as the academy had it as a best pic nom. it got best screenplay nom. i'm not saying it shouldve been the hands down winner but a nom would've been appropriate.

My opinion is a lot of people who saw the H8ful 8 screener didn't get the same entertainment from it, compared to those who saw it in the theatre.

But, I thought Goggins deserved a best support nom. along with JJL.
Aside from production and cinematography, nothing else was that impressive about the film.

It was still mad entertaining doe.

No Hateful Eight nomination except Jennifer Jason Leigh for supporting actress

Easily my favorite movie of the year

because he was great in the movie

carried the movie while showing a lot of emotional range, made you want to root for the character

I thought Damon did a good job as well but and it's not like he overacted. The movie seemed realistic enough and even though it was long, it still had my attention throughout.
