Official DESIIGNER thread VOL. New English mixtape out

So if I grow up in Wisconsin and I like east coast style of rap. Hard lyrics over gritty beats. Hell I even visit NY a few times. So that's what inspires me to make music, and my music sounds like that. Am I a biter? Who am I biting? You can bite a region?

You talking about A$AP?

If so, paiging str8drop str8drop to school us again on A$AP Yams master plan for Rocky.....

Jesus ******* Christ....................... I don't even understand why we're still talking about this ASAP rocky in 2016 sounds nothing like he did on his first tape... he has fused sounds from everywhere.. if you wanna talk about the sound of the music okay

But there IS NO WAY IN HELL anyone saw the Peso videos of ****** in versace shirts in front of a one stop deli, champagne bottles in Jimbos, and Jeremy Scott/supreme **** and said yea this kids from houston..

Why you sooo defensive man?

I found the origin story of A$AP more interesting than disparaging. Especially seeing Yams being the architect behind the sound & image. It's more of praise to A$AP yambs for being a visionary....tha a slight to Rocky.

At least IMO. You always trip when somebody points something out about an NYC artist .

Speaking of the Peso video....

This is also a lil bit of the reason why Odd Future was throwing shots when Rocky first popped up...

it's just tiring to hear A$AP is biting off houston sound when the ***** just released a full album that sounds like nothing from houston..

I just want ****** to keep it a buck... ***** said he SAW the video and thought Rocky was from Houston :smh:

Dude above me is claiming that Rocky stole his style from the A mafia of Odd future... dudes go out there way to try and discredit anything NYC in this thread, so i peep and speak on it

Is it really farfetched to think so was from Houston? I heard a chopped and screwed style music, seen purple drank and grills and assumed h town until I did my googles. I was one of the people that liked son early on. But get off ya NY high horse, I'm 99.9% sure I'm not the only one who thought son was from Houston.

If somebody came in here and said they thought French was from the south u gonna come all defensive also when I could understand that too. U would have every reason to go on ya rants if a ***** said they thought Joey was from __ but asap and French are understandable

I could understand you saying the SOUND... but you specifically said you SAW him (i'm assuming a video) and there's no way your gonna tell me after seeing his early vids of ****** rollin dice in front of bodegas, With Supreme, 40 Belows, Versace shirts & Yams in a NYC jersey... that you still turned to yourself and said yea that Kids from Houston.

Another huge clue would be ........ "I be that pretty mutha***** HARLEMS WHAT I"M REPPING" but maybe my observation skills a lil off

Future can't rap? Huh????

****** say **** just to say ****. Gotta be trolling.

Codeine Crazy> any of your trap rappers past 5 years.

"Any of your trap rappers past 5 years"

What about rap period?

J, Cole, Kendrick, Lil Herb/Bibby, Rick Ross, Wale, ASAP Rocky, Big Krit, Big Sean, etc

Somebody truly need to slap fire out of your mouth, boy

You can like Codeine Crazy all you want, Future can't rap. Ain't a lyricist

I never thought Rocky was from the south. In those videos you can clearly see it's New York. Rocky and his crew are biters period. I looked at them funny early on but it was whatever. Reading that Yams article just confirmed it. Yams gave him all of Houston and Memphis music and told him "This the next wave, do this" and Rocky came out a whole different rapper. With the slang, flows, then SPG gave them the sound.

Then people that never listened to 3-6 or UGK or any Houston rappers thought that **** was different. _'s been making that sound since the 90's.

I remember hearing a hook about purple, codeine, grills and a frail ***** with braids. I'm like this song dope is hell but it came off real Houston like. As I looked more into son I realized he's from ny. But to a person that's just browsing seeing the grill and purple **** and chopped n screwed type **** it gave off a Houston feel. Now when I actually paid attention and looked into his other video and listened to all the lyrics then yea ok he from harlem.

there's a huge difference between biting & taking inspiration, i would say A$AP def did the latter and actually paid homage. They have clearly used a mashup of several sounds, they introduced their own topics to the raps, their actual image is different, they used just as much NYC slang in their music as they used terms from houston, and they CONSTANTLY remind people of where their from.

When Rocky was claiming he was the reason dudes was wearing golds is when he got too flagrant

Rocky was def influenced by the South but he put his own spin on it.

He's overlooked in the new New York convo.

I just had the pleasure of hearing young ma for the first time  :smh: I know somebody in here mentioned her. LOL mannn. Idk what to say anymore

Is he really though ? I've only heard one Young MA song in comparison to Desiigner's whole abysmal mixtape
