Still have my pair DS. Might have to do it soon :smokin

If we wanna be real, skate brands, Dunks, BAPE, trucker hats off the top of my head, he was at the forefront of setting off in terms of mainstream popularity.

Yes, many of us were doing those already (myself with Dunks), but he opened up the market.

Unds it for the old heads who don't have it please!!

Everything Pharrell did in skateboarding dgk had already done & he kinda came out of nowhere with it too so everybody hated him when he first started ice cream skate team
I remember Dgk and ice cream had beef cause they both were on reebok back when brands NEVER had more then 1 skate team if that now it's super common

he wasn't thaaaaat forward thinking.

when he was broke before Noreaga he dressed like a herb.

when he got into his prime he merely dressed like a late 80's rapper...he was pioneering da slimming down, but not by much.

these days he dresses more erratic and cumbersome then smooth..

Those guys weren't "broke" before Superthug. They just weren't making that long "Happy", "Blurred Lines", Hans Zimmer movie soundtrack money. They were signed artists and producers getting steady work from Teddy Riley and Puff. They had a deal on the table with Michael Jackson's record label that fell through (around the same time Mike was trying to sign Lauryn Hill). Pharrell in the late '90s and early '00s dressed how he would've dressed as a teenager if he had more money lol.

In the year 2001 Stevie Williams looked like the brokest member of wu tang with some fat *** dc shoes on. View media item 2262270 this is Pharrell in 2001. Defintely not dressed like a 80s rapper aside from the fact his jewelry game was crazy. And certainly not dressed like anyone in hip hop was until around the time Lupe came out. Heavy into japanese fashion, designer, skate culture, street culture, and hip hop. The average person wasn't blending all that together back then. And defintely nobody in hip hop was

Wasn't he rocking Independent way before any of that though?

I have NERD skate decks that were used for promo for the first album in 2002 (Kelis promo baseball bat for good measure).

Originally was gonna be a dgk vs ice cream skate video but the ice cream team all went separate ways

Why do you keep talking about Ice Cream? Ice Cream doesn't dictate what Pharrell did or didn't do when it comes to skateboarding.

Skate decks in 01-02. "Rock Star" video in 02 with skateboarding and BMX all in it.

What Stevie did with Zoo York is irrelevant. I never said no black dudes had ever done skateboarding before. Harold Hunter was out there before both dudes.

Just that Pharrell mainstreamed it.

You the one that came in talking about who did what first and mentioning DGK when the **** at best happened at the same time.

what we're talking about is the same thing Pharrell was into skateboarding and he did make it mainstream for a lot of people what I'm saying is the CULTURE wasn't ******* with him at first cause he was so mainstream
IE: big music producer starts skateboard company.
I only mentioned dgk cause both teams were signed to reebok at the time and had history I never said there wasn't other black dudes skating [emoji]128580[/emoji]
