i dont believe he bought them either.....so all them kicks in that store and you pick up nothing but jb and you work with jb..........he is basically advertising them 4s by "copping" 2 pair as well as trying to help get rid of them maroons sitting on shelves........some people just like shoes, but some people like whatever their favorite "celebrities/athletes" like....example anyone who buy a jordan because he wore them.

You can't fault Don C, for people making purchases based off his taste. Blame the people who admire Don C or said spokeperson, and let them determine their taste. I mean, all Don C can do is explain what he likes, and why.

go to any sig athlete thread and you'll see folks who give a million reasons they dont like a shoe but buy every colorway because they owe their favorite/athlete or something.... its their money but its still ridiculous to me, but im an old head so it probably isnt for me to understand

I'm most likely older than you (40) and based in the Chicago area. I was/am definitely a fan of Michael Jordan. But I bought his shoes mostly because my friends or my older cousins were rocking them.
I can definitely understand buying shoes your favorite player is wearing moreso than wearing skinny jeans when your a man or joggers as pants. But probably the old man in me coming out.

It is just another marketing technique. Hair styles, clothes, shoes and just a lifestyle in general can be marketed, to an extent. I wouldn't be surprised if those specific 7 picked were because they are available now or if a retro is due soon/available in secondary markets (such as RiF). There are always a mix of those who will buy because of someone else or if you only follow what you like, but those who do already adopted the shoe culture and aforementioned are usually don't follow shoes too closely.

Don C didnt buy anything, him being there alone made that store mad money, him paying had to be a front especially since they are in stores still but money doesnt equall smarts so who knows

:rolleyes

some people still buy shoes because they like em...

All I'm trying to say is, that some people still buy shoes because they still like the shoe... Not because it's what's hot in the streets. Hell, I bought maroons on release day, and I couldn't care less that they're still stirring on shelves. I bought them because I like them, and they have nostalgic value to me. If they weren't Jordans, the nostalgia would more than likely not be there for me.

If Jordans shoes were released in the same exact way they were/are, not many would look at them twice. But because he wore them, people connect to the shoe because of him.

not saying I'd buy anything Jordan brand puts out, if I don't like it, I don't like it. And I was never a Michael Jordan fan growing up, I was a fan of his shoes.

But I don't buy shoes based on what everyone else likes... That's what my original point was... DonC was buying shoes based on what he grew up around, what he liked growing up. He wasn't buying based on if it's sitting on the shelf or not. Y'all made it seem like he shouldn't be buying what he likes because another version will be releasing soon, or a pair is still sitting on a shelf somewhere.

basically this.

I guess i am a cynic because i believe someone who works with a brand will not buy what they get for free especially if what they are buying is conveniently the next big release from jb......now him buying maroons at that price while they are on shelves is reeking of jb hoping we buy these now that don c showing love to them...i could be wrong, but this is the same nike that has "sellouts" to make a shoe seem limited for the last couple of months
