REALLY?  people still use this tired hot take in 2016?

So you would be cool with the White Entertainment Televison Awards ? People would lose their ****.

Damn every channel is white entertainment.

What some of y'all don't understand or play dumb about is that things like the BET Awards is a response to the lack of black people getting their credit on other forums.

What is crazy about this topic is that Black people are still excluded, but Black people are supposed to get rid of BET and Black History Month before they are included in the Oscars?

People have allowed them to flip the argument from the Oscars lack of diversity to it somehow being Black peoples fault that they are excluded from the Oscars What?

Again... Hell no.

I liked Stallone's performance. He did a good job at keeping his character fresh but Michael was obviously the star and was great. I don't see how anybody can watch that movie and think Stallone was great or the star. He was basically Mick.

But it's not surprising that Stallone is the only one getting recognized for that movie.
Horrible analogy. Basically Mick? Have ever seen any of the Rocky movies? Micky had virtually no depth to his character.

i thought MBJ was good but didnt stand out

just a solid lead but nothing too memorable
This.

Maybe next year the Oscars will start handing out participation awards like kids softball leagues.

the problem is people dont understand that its not the oscar's lack of diversity that's the problem. its that hollywood in general doesnt give oscar worthy roles to people of color

there is nothing wrong with this year's nominees

And Stallone really didn't do much in this movie. It was like a good sidekick role. He didn't steal the show in that movie.

Do asian and latino ppl complain alot about thiss too? Is it just under reported? I'm curious because i don't generally hear anything

Meh, it's not like we really have a voice out there. I think I read somewhere that more white actors have Oscars for playing Asians than actual Asians

asians traded all future oscar wins to the academy in 1971 for bruce lee.

Either way, can't wait for Rock's monologue

The thing is only the people in hollywood really know whats going on. Now with social media there is so many people just jumping on the bandwagon because they're favorite actor, singer, rapper, comedian or whatever said something on there instagram feed. How racist can an organization be that let 50 cent make 30 movies ? If anyone should have a problem it's women in general who do the exact same roles and get paid less then men.

That's why he was nominated for "best supporting actor"

The same way Joe Pesci was the star in Goodfellas, yet it was a "good sidekick role."

But isn't that still subjective? Why is Syl in Creed an Oscar worthy role but not Idris in BONN? Or Samuel in hateful 8?

You don't get it.

There is no debate about "supporting actor".

The point is Stallone didn't outshine Michael B. Pesci clearly had the best performance in his movie. Stallone didn't. Overall the movie was great but the fact that Stallone is the only person getting acknowledged when you have a black director and a black star proves what people say about the Oscars.

Then we'll have to agree to disagree. Sly was arguably the best he's been since the OG Rocky in this supporting role. MBJ was very good, but not oscar worthy. It has nothing to do with color in this case, it's a matter of better acting.

If anything MBJ should've been recognized for Fruitvale.

I 100% agree that sam should have been nominated but the ones that actually were all put up very good performances as well

still need to watch BONN but my guess is being a netflix movie really hurt his chances

most people and critics agree that stalone was the best part of creed though, well him and the director but no one is really talking about MBJ as oscar worthy

it's not a race thing, MBJ just wasnt as good as stalone for most viewers

@sea manup Exactly. I watched it again last night and while I thought was MBJ was very good and perfect for the role, Stallone's acting was almost surprisingly moving.

There also other elements that could have been recognized (Coogler) I guess, but I don't see the MBJ Oscar connection here. I'm anxious to see how he evolves as an actor though, and hope he's given more dynamic roles.

Really ? Well what about Denzel in Hurricane ? Morgan Freeman in Shawshank ? Halle Berry in Monsters ball ? How did they get nominated in movies with mostly a white cast ?
