OFFICIAL TRAVEL GUIDE: JAPAN

bummed im not gonna be able to make it to fukuoka and hiroshima in the west. def plan on adding that during the next trip along with the onsens up north. according to my buddy who lives up north in aomori, they got the best ones

Heading to Japan at the end of april for about 14 days.

Thinking about 6 days in Tokyo, 3 or 4 in kyoto, 4 in osaka

what y'all think? Also should i get the all access train pass?

Any must see places?

Should i go to Mt FUji

I will also be there during end of April. I believe Mt Fuji is closed till June.

I will be in Japan for 10 nights, 10 days and am trying to plan my days between the cities. I will spend most of my time in Tokyo. Two of those days in Tokyo will be spent at EDC.

That will leave me with just 9 more days to split between Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. How should I split the 9 days up between those three cities? I'd prefer to spend most of my time in Tokyo as I have a long bucket list of things to do there. I was thinking of spending 2 nights and 3 days split between Kyoto and Osaka, and the rest in Tokyo. I'm also open to skipping Osaka altogether.

YOOOOOO

I'm going the same exact time as you! The ticket prices were too good to pass up, just got them earlier this week!

We're gonna try to head to EDC for one day as well! Oh man, I'm so hyped.

We're flying out LAX Friday, April 28th, and then flying back March 8th.

Nice man. Where are you guys planning to stay? I'm looking at Airbnb in the Shibuya area and the prices are very reasonable.

As for EDC, I believe theyre only selling weekend passes. I wish they would sell single day passes because I only want to go for one day. I'll be there from April 21 - March 1st.

We have no idea. Everything is still in the works. I heard air bnb may be an issue because it isn't legal in Japan?

Sometimes people may flake and leave you with nowhere to stay.

Also, we literally just bought our single day ticket 3 minutes ago! You already bought your ticket?

Ah, I didnt know that about Airbnb in Japan. I'll look into it. I saw a lot of postings.

EDC is selling single day passes now, nice! What day are you going? I think I will wait for the lineup to come out before deciding which day to go

I went to Japan this past December and it was seriously the best time of my life. I only wish I would have known more Japanese.

Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka are great but if you have the time, I'd highly recommend heading north to Hokkaido. Sapporo, Otaru, Biei and Noboribetsu were all awesome places. Great places to check out with a less touristy vibe, awesome nature and the best seafood in all of Japan.

Can I get more info on some of this. How many days would you recommend for some of these options

I would say 5 days in Hokkaido would be a decent amount of time.

1 day in Sapporo to check out Odori Park, the Original Sapporo brewery and museum built in the 1800s, also check out Ebisoba Ichigen for their famous shrimp broth ramen. There's also s Ramen theme park on the 10th floor of the ESTA building in Sapporo.

1 day in Otaru to try the sushi which the town is known for. Hokkaido is famous for its king crab, uni and scallops and seafood in general.

Take a day trip out to Yoechi to visit the Nikka distillery if you're into Japanese whiskey. Definitely worth the trip.

Another day trip would be to check out the blue pond in Biei.

Also cool to check out the local town and hit the hiking trails.

Finally I'd suggest staying 1 or 2 nights in Noboribetsu which is a famous onsen (hot springs) town, You can explore Jigokudani (Hell Valley) and definitely stay at an onset hotel. I went during winter last year and one of the coolest experiences in my life was sitting butt naked in an outdoor hot spring while it snowed on me. No real way to explain it but it felt amazing. Haha if you have any other questions PM me.

Snowlax, thanks for making those posts brah!

I went to Japan last October-November around halloween time into first week of November and I fell in love with the place.

Last time I went for 9 days and spent almost an even split between Tokyo and Osaka.

Just got the ok at the job and i'm glad to say I will be going back for Mid-May.

RIght now i'm trying to figure out my agenda....what I really wanted to see is:

- Summer Basho sumo events
- Wisteria Park
- Pink Moss around fuji five lakes region
- Itsukushima Shrine
- Osaka

I really feel like i'm gonna do another 4-5 day split between each area....I really wanted to see somewhere else like Hokkaido but I never imagined there could be so much to do in Japan....

Any tips for visiting mid may?

anyone been to a npb baseball game out there? thinking about going to a game. either koshien stadium to see the orix buffaloes play or tokyo dome for giants depending on our schedule

I went to the Tokyo Dome to see the Giants play

It was definitely a cool experience. The crowd was amazing. They do cheers literally after every pitch for the entire game.

We left after a few innings since baseball isn't our thing... but worthwhile experience

repped. appreciate the feedback. 3/5 in our group are big baseball fans and heard that games are lit over there. we plan on just sticking around for a few innings as well just to get a feel for the atmosphere. dont wanna stay the whole game tho

spent 4 days in tokyo, mostly to do stuff for my son. some of the things we did:

went to this place called kidzania. like a mini city for kids. they do jobs and earn fake money. pretty crazy. they even got kids playing paramedic doing cpr. here's my little guy putting out a fire.

seeing that a lot of cherry blossoms bloomed already. should i be worried that the season will be worried with all the petals having fallen by the time i arrive their 4/7? a lot of the forecasts say that full bloom ends on 4/8-10ish so just curious if i should brace myself for disappointment

why dont u just do tokyo then go to kyoto, a clean split. thats what i did. i mean the bullet trains are there but i think its expensive though i feel you lose minimal time.

3 days for kyoto-osaka-nara area seem too short. i spent 4 days and did a packed schedule but i still wasnt able to go to nara. kyoto and osaka are super nice. when u go to osaka and go to namba/dotonburi, you will surely get yellow fever

my whole japan trip was really really nice
