Is Kevin Hart as big of a star as Eddie Murphy was in the 80's?

Probably like 90th time someone has said this but. Hart's hustle is dope. But HELLLLLL NAAAHHH. I'll take 90's comic view/def jam comedians over his material. I was never a big stand up Eddie guy but his movies I ****** with. Dude had blockbusters, when blockbusters existed. Times are different and people are even more fickle. I'm not into this generations stand up as much as I was in the past. I think the 90s/early 2000s it peaked. Now its all this "awwwww thats awkward". Don't get me this **** about not liking Louis CK cuz I don't get it. I'm good off that cat. I'm basic as hell Pryor and Carlin are my go to's still. Eddie Griffin>Kevin Hart

Is Kevin heart as big a star now? The short answer is yes. He'selling out large venues like Eddie and he is waiste deep in the entertainment industry. There are no black comedians doing what Kevin is doing in this era.

That said, Kevin will never eclipse Eddie Murphy's body of work and the impact that he made and is still making. A part of it is just timing (Murphy paved the way), and a large part of it is Eddie's talent as a writer, performer, and entertainer.

Go back and you have Pryor, Red, and others. Each one builds greatness off of the next.
 
If eddie murphy hosted snl RIGHT NOW it would get higher ratings than a kevin hart ep
 
Bigger obviously because of social media these days. More people in more countries know Kevin Hart now than Eddie Murphy in his prime. And Kevin does not have a Beverly Hills Cop type of creditial in his resume.
 
Kevin Hart and Eddie Murphy could walk into any large mall, restaurant or any gathering of people regardless of age or race and I PROMISE YOU Eddie Murphy would get the most attention....

Eh that's kinda unfair. If any really big star that hadn't done SNL In ages would get huge viewers. If OJ Simpson got released from jail on the condition that he host SNL, it'd be one of the highest viewed programs of the year

Which is exactly the point. Kevin is on TV and movie screens every 20 minutes. Eddie Murphy hasn't been in the "spotlight" for ages and would still be mobbed by a sea of people anywhere he goes just as much if not MORE than Kevin Hart. This is a man who was at his peak of celebrity status 30 years ago....
 
But at any given moment, younger people are the highest population at the mall, so Kevin Hart resonates with THAT demographic more than Eddie Murphy.

Yea he is on TV every 20 minutes but if he is in person, whole different ball game.

Nah man. Just no. Kevin Hart would command a larger crowd at a random mall in 2016.

Eddie is a bigger star time for time though. Don't confuse me saying ^ that as my answer to the overall topic being KH.

I think this is where ppl saying yes are confused. Eddie didn't just sell out large venues and was waist deep in the entertainment industry. He was bigger than that.

There are no black comedians doing what Kevin is doing in this era.

He brought up the 21 thing because Lame Koller said EM would have more people flock to him at a mall vs. kh
