In the competitive world of NYC street parking, monopolizing spots legit?

As of 2014, there were over 2 million registered vehicles in the city. Needless to say, parking is a precious commodity 'round these parts.

To keep a long story short, I got lucky and found myself parked directly next to a car leaving, but the driver has an arrangement with someone else who pulled up just a minute ago.

The person who just pulled up knocks on my window and I already knew what time it was, but there's no explanation that justifies me moving my car. If you want a guaranteed parking spot, pay for it.

I've been sitting there for close to an hour. It was either that spot or $20 in the garage, with an inconvenient trip outside before my shift ends.

But now I feel bad, thinking of the times I've been on the other end of this same ordeal. I figure if someone shows me that kindness, I'll pay it forward :/

It doesn't help that shorty who tried to park kept throwing the fact that she's a nurse in my face. In the end, they just switched cars and left the parked one there. I eventually found a spot somewhere else.

Ain't no spot monopolies out here, b. I'm a **** or nah?

She tried the box pass and got denied. You were not in the wrong, nor is anyone who declines to inconveinence themselves at the behest of others.

Treat it like how they did in A Bronx Tale.

Parking in NYC is absolutely awful. But it really depends where you're looking and what time. Sometimes I'll get lucky and sometimes I've had to park in a garage (not often).

Nah I'm not leaving for nothing it's quiet

on the other hand there's been times where I found a spot far away but as I'm walking I see a spot closer, tell my boy to stand in the spot

I been on both sides of the coin it is what it is

That seems ok though.

Opie was already waiting for an hour, so that spot should be his.

U probably smarter for moving your whip...it's not legal what they did, and you did have every right to park there. However, I'd be more concerned with them doing something to my car when I left it behind.

there was a good spot by my old apartment that was always occupied by a van and they swapped it out with a car whenever the van left. one day i was driving to the store when i saw the van pulling out and the swap car was coming down the road but was waiting for some kids to cross in the crosswalk. i fast and furioused a u-turn and swooped into that spot. the van driver pulled up and was yelling and waving his hands but i played deaf and walked home instead of going to the store. i left my car there for a few days and inconveniently carpooled to work just to be a prick

OP I feel you, but that's kinda of one of those perks you get in life. It's like having a hook up on something...home field advantage.

Personally, I do the same **** when I go back to the hood.
Hold the spot for the homies before goin home.

It be like that sometimes.

Holla back.

Good ****. I have a strong dislike for people that feel entitled to a parking spot. Idc if you park there everyday if somebody beat you to it you can't get mad about it, you don't own it. But the only problem with that is taking the chance that they do something to your car. Good for you though make em wait
