My brother and sister-in-law appointed me to be the godfather of their child. I'm baptized and received holy communion, but they want me to get confirmation to be the godfather. The local church said it takes a year :smh: Anyone know of a quicker way?

Why you gotta be confirmed? Is it something they want you to do or is it a rule?

I asked people that are godparents and they said the same thing. Her dad is a deacon or something like that so he's very "religious/traditional."

There's no other way to really do it mane unless you can find a church that does a faster RCIA.  The first requirement to be a godparent in the Church is to be fully confirmed, and second in good standing, aka confessed and all that other good stuff.  Confirmations for adults usually happen on the Saturday before Easter so all the newly confirmed people can celebrate Easter as full members.

To bad you are in South Florida. There is a church in Long Beach, California that confirmed my wife and I, before our marriage, in about a month. Good luck finding one in FL, op...and congrats on becoming a godparent.

Do you get a certificate upon completion or something? ?? How would they know you did it forreal
