B.o.B. on one.

It is interesting to me how people treat others, over something so....trivial is the wrong word, or is it.

One question I was intuitive enough to ask myself when I first learned of this "movement" was....If the roles were reversed and we were simply taught first that the Earth was Flat, and then someone came along and told us it was Round and moving at very high speeds, would we react the same way we do now when folks say it is flat? Of course people would react the same. Human Nature I reckon.

Like, imagine when Pythagoras (it is said he was the first to claim Sphere) went to Alexander and said, "Um....um....I know you've traveled all the lands Conquering far and near. I know you've seen a lot of Land. Flat Land probably, but......um...it's not Flat it's curved, and the Earth is a spinning Ball"

roll.gif
Alexander probably locked that guy it the top of the Tower and had him beheaded.

Funny, perspective and programming.

If you were programmed or "taught" from Birth, like people once were, this concept would not be so foreign and the Rounders would be as you Call Flatheads now, the "idiots".

Again, I'm not proving Flat or Round but.....observing the behaviors of folks in regard to this, I'd be lying if I said it isn't one of the more telling things about ones Character that I've seen, in my Life.

Check reason 122. (1:07:15 mark (it should be paused there)) He poses the same question I just rambled about.

If the shoe were on the other foot

It's nice that you have a standard where you require that kind of proof to believe something

But you totally toss that principle aside with your refusal to apply that same standard to flat earth theories

Dude said "gravity isn't real" and you don't even bat an eye, but let someone say "if earth is flat then why are all the other planets we've observed round" and you'll instantly be jumping through hoops to disprove that

Are you quoting me because I'm the one who said I BELIEVE that it's round due to the fact that the sun and other planets are round.

This is yet another example of people putting words in others mouths and making assumptions so that they can say "I'm right you're wrong".

And smh at the dude saying he's seeing curvature from a plane. I really hope you're joking

@PLVN    Yea, I'm talking about US, our generation. If we were taught Flat First, and then the Rounders came, it'd be same same as Round vs Flat, now, would it not?

But the fact that you point out me saying "if we once thought it was Flat, and the learned it was Round" and laugh and ridicule that like I don't realize that this is really what happened, is child's play and shows your lack of ingenuity to think about thinks progressively, or at all.

I mean, I did mention in the same quote, the guy who actually posed the Round > Flat theory, so surely I acknowledge we once thought it was flat etc.

But, instead of having some dialogue, you point that out....like you just "ethered" me.......simpleton.

Mark Antony you are just as simple for not noticing the same, but rather group thinking into a "cliqued up Emoji laugh", you simple simple man you. Add Brendasbaby on in there too.

They knew exactly what you meant.
I don't think they do, tbh.

You are giving them more credit than deserved.

I'd rather bet he stopped there because he thought "I got him, let me get this quote together so I can ether and laugh at him", instead of finishing the post.

Oh, insults, you must be upset. You sure derived a lot from a smiley. It's interesting how people treat others over something so trivial.

Do you consider that people presently may be being programmed to believe the earth is flat? Possibly in an effort to discredit other "truth" movements while sowing distrust for the scientific community, much like the anti vaccine movement?

If you were already apt to believe in conspiracies, then spent hours watching videos on YouTube with faulty sources and disprovable points that you're inclined to believe in because it's not "establishment science", wouldn't it be easier to convince you of something like flat earth?

And it's stated by some that Pythagoras round earth theory was actually taken from another group who had known for possibly hundreds of years prior that the idea of a flat earth was faulty [emoji]128064[/emoji]

Oh I consider not only that people are being programmed to push the Flat theory, but as you said that it is PYSOP or something else entirely.

Again this post reads like I have come in here and started blasting my Flat Earth radio while trying to convince you all that you've been duped.

....and on a sidenote: Whether Pythagoras or someone 500years before him posed the theory is not relative, but I see you know some things and wanted to point that out.

Like, your post was good, it asks some good questions.

Why finish it up with the Pythagoras bit?

Don't even start all over.

You bring nothing to this discussion, you just keep cheerleading if anything.

Oh I was done a long time ago, just saw this on the front page again and saw something that made me post a smiley. Your thoughts and feelings are quite irrelevant.

Im not gonna judge anyone for their beliefs or call anyone stupid or whatever.

I posted some reasons why i think the earth is round.
To me they were compelling enough.

All im asking now is for anyone who thinks the earth is flat to show me any kind of evidence that makes you believe that.

This still doesn't address the fact that you don't hold flat earthers to the same standard as traditional thinkers

Like I said "gravity isn't real" gets passed by, but "I saw the curve from a plane" is reprehensible

To give an idea of how far back round earth goes to people who read that post and might not know. Could spark research. I don't think you're trying to convince anyone, I don't even think you really believe in flat earth

People were still being taught the earth was flat after people had already (likely) discovered and documented it was a faulty idea.

The idea was (allegedly) co opted by Pythagoras at some point and through him the belief of round earth in western society gained traction.

And here we are now, western media propagating the flat earth idea at a time where distrust in science is increasing and the POTUS and his crew are actively leading people to be against science/knowledge and trust alternative facts. All this **** is just weird to me.

gravity is not real. Gravity is just reaction to the density of mass around the atmosphere which is more dense than oxygen. Any other mass that is less dense than oxygen rises above.... all non gaseous element fall due to density not gravity.
Dense objects being heavier than lighter objects is gravity.

This is the best you came up with after all that time?

I don't care which threads you hang out in, post wherever, whenever, however you like....but it's clear this conversation is not for you.

Slightly above your vibration or below your understanding, possibly both.

And that's okay, but it for sure isn't my fault.

There is without a doubt an anti-science movement happening in the world right now

Certain people like to conflate skepticism with denialism and place layman ideas on the same level as bonafide scientific theories

The religious right and the flat earth youtubologist types are spearheading the effort whether they realize it or not
