Paris, Rome, or Barcelona? I need vacation help/ideas.

Out of those 3 i'd go:

1) Barcelona
2) Paris
3) Rome

But if it's with your girl, I'd say Paris. Women seem to be into Paris more than any other European city, even though there are nicer cities. 7 days in Paris will definitely give you lots to do, but you may also go broke in the process, as the city is really expensive. I spent 4 days there and probably spent more than I did in two other cities combined. Like others have said, it's similar to NYC, but with more nice buildings and history.

Have you considered Madrid? I think it's a little nicer than Barcelona, has lots to do in and around the city, and has better nightlife than Rome or Paris. It's also a lot cheaper than Paris or Rome.

Do i have enough time to do Florence and Venice?

I wish time wasn't an issue :\

I did Pordenone to Venice, to Pisa, to Florence, and back to Venice... connected to Pordenone, IT. In one day.

I insisted that I be taken to Discotecca Odissea nightclub, where I passed out from exhaustion... lol

I lived in Italy a looooong time ago.

And the two years I was there I hadnt seen the Interior of the Sisteen chapel in Rome, leaning tower of Pisa or the Michaelangelo in Florence.
Rome would have taken 5 hrs by train, and i would have to stay the night if I wamted to see the other two. But I really wanted to visit Discotecca Odissea on my last weekend.
So I just went to Pisa & Florence.

There was a point where I got off my train and I connected to the right train on accident... otherwise I would have ended up in Bologna... lol

Been to all 3. Not sure what youre looking for..but based on my personal likes/dislikes

Rome
Paris
Barca.

Rome is legit. I love it. The history. The architecture. The food. The people. Italy as a whole was phenomenal.

Paris is dope. Overrated imo though. There are better parts of france. Less commercial less touristy.

Barcelona was kind of wack. Las Hamblas is the main spot. Its just Spanish NYC. Spanish time square. And i love nyc. But it was all of the bad parts. Hella pigeons. Od busy. Roaches. I got chased off a bench by a roach b. On my mama. It was life size. And it smelled horrible. Like the sewer smell of TS. Not many food choices either except tappas. I ate nothing but american fokd. Mickey ds and hard rock cafe every day. There are better parts of spain. Madrid and ibiza are better imo.

Lol you went and ate mcdonalds and hard rock daily? Barcelona actually has great food. Had the best seafood paella ever over there. They have a lot of the 5 table family owned spots that do home style cooking.

Women are amazing there too that euro/Spanish blend [emoji]128563[/emoji]

If you pick Rome you can go to Florence and Venice as well like others have said. I haven't been there myself but I know quite a few people who have.

Vast majority of them preferred it over Paris by a lot. I really enjoyed my trips to Paris. I love museums so Paris has a lot to offer in that regard.

I would agree it's overrated but it's definitely a great trip.

Haven't been to Barcelona but from what I hear it has much less to offer than Rome or Paris.

Yeah Paris is more of a couples town if you ask me. Unless you have some friends out there or just need to see the louvre it's gonna be pretty boring

I go to Barcelona/Ibiza every summer

It never gets old

Architecture/weather/food/parties..and Spanish ppl are one of the nicest ppl u will ever meet

If you book..stay at 4 star hotels and up only..

Spain is like another world

I even looked into moving there

I recently did a European trip this year and hit up all 3 cities. Rome and Barcelona were easily my favorites. Like most people have said, Paris is overrated. Its cool to see the Eiffel if you've never seen it before but thats about it.

Rome is great. The locals are very chill and the city is just beautiful. Same with Barcelona, plus cheap food and beer.

will be going to europe in two weeks. im going to be out there for a month. i'm really excited. did OP ever go?

Surprised nobody has mentioned Amsterdam. Me and my best friend trying to plan something hopefully for this time next year probably do 4 days in London 3 in Amsterdam and a few in Paris just to get are feet wet

Been hearing flights to Europe are going for the stupid low and since Delta guessed wrong on the price of jet fuel last year it really won't be going up anytime soon

Went to all 3 this past summer. I'll say Barca, Paris and then Rome.

Amsterdam over all 3. Lol. I didn't enjoy Rome as much and others have said in this thread. I did like all the Paris tourist spots.

I think op should let us know what he's into and what he's not worried about doing.. that could be a big factor.

Amsterdam is boring as hell. Good to see once but it's just ehh to me

When are you planning on going?? I would recommend Barcelona, its very safe and easy to go around, i ve been living here for two years and there is always something going on. On the other hand im french and I hate Paris. Charles de gaule airport is the worst airport I ever been to. Subway is alaways late and very crowded but still if you have the money you can have a great time in Paris. Never been to Rome but I been to many other cities in italy, didnt really mark me except for the food...Other than that I think you should consider Lisbon its cheap and enjoyable.

really need to get out of the US for a euro trip... hopefully 2017 is the year

I couldn't even tell you but I've been to Paris before and it's amazing. I'm in London now and I'm trying to go back and check out Belgium as well. Spain would be dope.

I would mix it up,

either do Paris (especially if your girl is really down) and another city (barca, london, lisbon, prague or even amsterdam. I would also recommand berlin or munich, surprised they weren't mentionned yet...)

or

do Rome and go around (Florence or cinq terres would be my pick, but you could always go with Venice).

7 days is short, but you can definitly grab a multi-city and do 2 spots and catch a cheap flight in between.

why is that?
The difference between a 3 star and a 4 star hotel is like night and day..and if u are spending good money on a trip..u want to have the best experience as possible

I agree 7 days is short..if this is their first time in EU..they should at least do 10 days..

Also Cinque Terre is def on my list of places to go..looks INSANE

i understand you want to sleep and feel like a king. but for the most part you are just storing your valuables in a room. perhaps i dont see the difference. but the last thing i'm worried about when i'm traveling is sleeping a luxurious set up. hostels in europe are not the most appetizing (although the bathroom floors are marble) but you are only there to sleep and shower.

I've been to all 3. I can tell you none of them are boring.

But if you are looking for things to see I would def recommend Rome. Everywhere you turn there is history there and sights to see. I was there a week and still feel like I didn't see everything.

Barcelona is awesome during the summer time because you have the beach and the party scene. Hit up "La Boqueria and Las Ramblas"

And you could never go wrong with Paris, no matter what season. The Parisian corner cafes, the cuisine, the museums, people watching, theres so much to do.

Bunch of Nonsense up in here ..

1st. By no means is Paris a boring place - expensive? maybe - but boring? hell no. People talking about Eiffel Tower is all to see? Man ... If you are strictly talking about tourist attractions ...

Eiffel
Louvre
Orsay
Latin Qtr
Notre Dame
Sacre Couer
Arc De Triomphe
Catacombs
Champs Elysees
Opra House
Montmatre
Luxembourg Garden

I can keep going but you get the point - besides, with his lady, doing late night walks around the river or by the tower or even in the latin qtr - nothing beats it.

Now when it comes to Rome - everyone is always quick to suggest Venice and Florence - although they are great ....

Go hit Pompeii - Amalfi Cost - Positano - Naples - Surrento - Caprii all really close and most like Cinque Terre that is almost 3 times as far - plus they are all beautiful and ton of history. Plus they you can do that in a day trip from Rome.

Also, you can hit all the TOP tourist place in one Day Colosseum - Vatican - Roman Forum - etc. But are you really enjoying it? I would say probably not - just a blur in your time lapse ..

At least for me - when I go places -  I want to take it in - like go inside the Colosseum and just think about how far it dates back and the roman that enjoyed the brutal games. Take a very sacrilegious tour (Scavi) and just think of the possibility that you are actually witnessing the tomb of Saint Peter one of the apostles ... stuff like that is what I enjoy and take in and can relive for ever ....

**** a selfie to impress your friends and capture memories that you will take to the grave .....
