Why is Cam Newton hated so much?

Man o swear this only makes me want him to win so much more. If they win I hope he trolls so hard. Him and obeezy dabbing will be put on a t shirt.

Who gives a **** what these guys wear? If I was the starting quarterback of a Super Bowl-bound team I would've gotten off that plane wearing a Ric Flair style robe and gold rimmed aviators. And I'm white if that matters.

Cam Newton poses with the Sieczko family at Super Bowl Media Day.

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton proved his heart is as big as powerful right arm on Monday's Super Bowl Media Day at the SAP Center.

In 2014, Sunnyvale native Trae Sieczko's son Scot died of cancer at the age of 22. The Sieczkos are a huge sports family with most members being 49ers fans, but Scot became enamored with Newton when he was at Auburn, followed him to Carolina and loved the joy and abandon with which Newton attacked the quarterback position.

One item on Sieczko's bucket list was getting a signed jersey from Newton. Trae put her son's story out on Facebook, which caught the attention of Santa Clara mayor Jamie Matthews. He placed a call to 49ers CEO Jed York and then 49ers VP Bob Lange called the Panthers to see if Newton would sign a jersey and send to Sieczko.

Newton found out about it and decided to do one better. He wanted to meet the family and sign the jersey in person, which he did on Monday after fielding questions for an hour on media night.

"I'm so excited," Sieczko said, while wearing her own Newton jersey. "His bucket list is now complete. I can feel his presence."

Newton does an abundance of charity work, particularly focusing on kids. The Panthers go into Sunday's Super Bowl with the Broncos with the league's top-ranked offense and maybe something just as powerful — Newton's undeniable karma.
Episode 6: State of Emergency for HipHop + How Cam Newton is being portrayed as a villain.
FTESWL sits down with David who talks to them about two articles he has written. When did Hip Hop transition over from hustler to customer? The molly craze where rappers are rapping more about poppin pills than making money off dealing it. Reading this article below and it got us thinking. “A foreigner in the Home that the 80’s Built — The Story of Hip-Hop in 2016. We talk about how Future and Lil Wayne have spawned all these clones who copy what they think is the blueprint to success. Starting at the 55:39 mark the article about “America’s NWA: Sports IS a Magnifying Glass” puts you in a place where you can categorize David’s son and model him after three players.

1. Richard Sherman

2. Marshawn Lynch

3. Cam Newton

We 3 try to take on why isn’t Cam Newton getting fully embraced by the media why is there such a backlash with how he celebrates or how he chooses to lead a team who has only lost 1 game and on their way to the Super Bowl. Why is it when Tom Brady yells and spike a ball after a TD it’s passion but if Cam Newton or anybody else does it, it’s disruptive. Is Cam and Russel Wilson a new wave of QB’s who are not just a duel threat but are successful at doing it as well.

Are reporters usually this hostile?

Cam should've pulled a beastmode on that 1st guys

Lmao was that Mitch Albom?

Do you hear the tone he was speaking to cam? [emoji]128514[/emoji] Do u think he would dare talk to another man, let alone one that size, in his face 1v1 with that tone? [emoji]128514[/emoji]

Cam gets props for keeping his cool man cause that dude was way out of line putting words in his mouth and trying to have him write his story for him. Just felt like dude was itching to call him "boy" as well

:smh: I hate the media sometimes man.

"Wth is your problem, why won't you just cooperate with this narrative I'm trying to shoehorn onto you? :smh: "

******* ridiculous that this many years after Doug Williams, which was ridiculous at the time (and after we just had a black qb in the super bowl the past two years in a row ) that this topic is still brought up.

That reporter was beyond disrespectful and deserved to be shunned. Glad to see Cam didn't let that reporter throw him off.

Oh wow.

I didn't even peep that.

#THEY are really wilding.

Hope he comes back 10x as ignorant next year and wins the SuperBowl and blows off the press conference again, this time spraying champagne in the reporters faces.

It's hilarious to see people pretend to be mad about stuff like him not speaking in the press conference.

Don't paint such a broad picture. Romanowski and a few others are idiots (and racist) for how they view Cam.

However, don't say you hope he comes back 10x as ignorant next year. That's under the assumption that he's ignorant now, which he's not. He's being himself and unfortunately people have a problem with it.

As long as the Skins and Panthers don't have games, I'm gonna continue to pull for the guy. He's a remarkable talent and I hope he does end up with a ring before he's 30.

Panthers beat writer said it best yesterday.  "He is the world's best winner and the world's worst loser.  Tonight showed that again."

Assuming it was David Newton, if so he's a clown in his own right. Honestly one of the worst beat writers of any professional team in sports.

Knew he'd catch a lot of flak for the post game but people forget that players are actual human beings. This is probably one of the most disappointing moments of his life and he's gotta answer a bunch of (largely) dumb questions about it less than an hour later. Not everybody can spit out cliches or be gracious (or even in a good enough mood to talk) in the immediate aftermath of something like that. Better that he was curt/left the scene than to say something he regretted.

was listening to a local sports radio station here in Toronto driving down to work.

Some callers are incredible.

One guy called in saying that he should take notes when it comes to being gracious when losing and winning, and you have guys like "Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger" who always exemplify the proper way in doing things.... and you have Cam who wears a Superman symbol on his chest and acts like "Dwight Howard and Shaq, whom no body likes and THEY're always showboating...."

I'm like wow.... closet racists coming out. **** got me heated.
Peyton Manning storms off Super Bowl field. Is he a poor sport?
By Chris Chase

February 08, 2010

Peyton Manning(notes)  didn't shake hands with New Orleans Saints  players after his Indianapolis Colts  lost 31-17 in Super Bowl XLIV. Apparently some think this is a sign of poor sportsmanship  from the NFL's greatest player. It's not.

Walking off the field without congratulating Drew Brees(notes)  may go against our misguided notion of what sportsmanship should  be, but it wasn't at all disrespectful or bitter. It shows how much Peyton Manning wanted to win the game. And who can argue about that?

LeBron James was caught up in a similar controversy  during the NBA playoffs last year and the same thing that was true then is true now: A perfunctory handshake doesn't make someone a good sport. It either makes them indifferent to the game's result or a good actor. What would people have preferred Peyton and LeBron do, laugh off the loss with apathy and treat the victors to dinner after? This isn't Little League.

The only time I question my sports fandom is when the players I'm rooting for seem to care less about the result than I do. I don't want to see my team's quarterback laughing on the sideline while losing a big game. If I care so much, why shouldn't the players?

"It's just a job for these guys," is a familiar refrain. The natural response to that is the great ones make their job their passion. Hall of Fames don't tend to include guys who can't care. The desire to win is what sustains greatness. You think Michael Jordan was hugging Isiah Thomas after losses in the 1980s? Or that Larry Bird stayed on the court to congratulate Kareem? Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio weren't going out for drinks after the Yankees beat the Red Sox. The great ones are competitors and competitors can't flip a switch immediately after a devastating loss and act like it didn't matter.

Being a good sportsman is playing fair, respecting the game and giving credit after to an opponent. Manning did all those things Sunday. In his postgame press conference he said of his quick exit:
"I certainly know how it was three years ago when we won. There's not much consolation for the guys who didn't win. There's the stage being set up and the celebration. It's time for the Saints to celebrate. It's their field."
That's probably a tad disingenuous, but no more than it would have been if Peyton had walked over to congratulate Drew Brees.

For the record, Peyton did call Brees later in the night. Said the Saints quarterback: "Peyton's a class guy." If the man who was supposedly snubbed thinks so, that's enough for me.
