My son, currently in 1st grade and my nephew in 3rd grade, along with the entire DISD school system, need your help NT Fam. We are just 300 signatures away from this petition to allow 30 more mins of recess time to promote healthy mental/physical development. My son and nephew always complain about barely getting any play time at lunch. I remember the days of getting a good sweat at lunch. All we need is your Herby Hancock!

Man the good Ol' Days!!!

I remember in Kindergarden I busted out the White Ranger and Simba towels from my cubby hole!

I had the students, even teachers 'mirin!

Sprinting out the cafeteria to the playground and asking the teacher for the kickball!

Brb.... Gonna go cry now after I sign this!

Thank you guys!

I will say this about seeing these kids at recess, it ain't the same. I used to come in to the class room breaking a sweat. These kids need to work off the food. The up side though is the food. Its super healthy now and they even teach the kids about what they eat. My son all the sudden talks about how he ate and loves broccoli. Back in the day I wouldn't touch those little trees.

I remember playing off the wall, and suicide during recess :smh:. We use to bean each other in the head and back with those blue hand balls.

Spiceman, Wallball used to be the best game along with suicide. Crazy how if they played that game now how it would make the news, lawsuits, and suspensions would be at an all time high!

:smh: You are so right, they would never allow that kind of play today. In all honesty even though we were beaning each other in suicide, it was all in fun. Nobody cried, or complained to the teachers. We were just having fun.

i think recess should be a time for self interest...

if a child wants to play ball, tag, or do flips, let them...if they want to read, paint, play music, or code software, they should be able to do that too...

Signed because I see alot of obese kids around these parts.

But DISD is horrible.

Signed.

263 needed.

Good luck opee. I miss recess days. Basketball, music, socialization, it really helped me breathe for the second half of the school day. As kids we have so much energy we need to let out throughout the day, it makes it harder for kids to pay attention when they have all of that bottled up.
