Trump advocating universal healthcare

Yup, I think Romney had something like it in his state. It's all about how you spin somethin and the media and GOP spun the ACA and pandered to their ignorant followers then it became a problem.

As much as I hate Trump, I like this idea. Here in Belgium I think we have a great social security and healthcare system.

Even without involving my insurance I can go to a private radiology center and pay as little as €8 for an x-ray, ct-scan, ...

We pay high taxes ofcourse but that's how we make medical care as affordable as possible for the people.

Around 5 years ago I believe when I was still in highschool, an American kid joined our school for a few months.

He had some sort of accident with his leg that required a costly surgery. His family temporarily moved to Belgium and had the surgery done over here because the cost of having the surgery done in the US was much larger than moving to another country for a few months and having the surgery done there.

That's ridiculous. Nobody should have to go through that.

Happens all the time man. Our healthcare is garbage. Obama care is wack too. The coverage for the money sucks. Even Biden had to get a loan from Obama to treat his son's cancer. He was about to sell his house until Obama gave him some money.

Tell ya this much...Obama care which is free for those that qualify >>>>>>> most insurances you get trough employment, I'm dependent on Otezla, my insurance decides this year they are changing our prescription coverage and now I'm no longer covered for it and it would cost me like 400$ a month to get my script...I'm trying to find an alternative now...it's a joke, I work hard and pay like 300$ a month for my insurance...and the only time it shines is for ER visits in my own hospital that I work in....

All candidates should be campaigning on this either way because it's the wave of the future...

i think trump has been financially backing liberals most of his life if I'm not mistaken .

Who knows, but AHCA is/was a Republican plan. Only when Obama adopted it, it became a terrible thing for America.

/thread. at this point u kno who the real haters are if they choose to ignore this, at this point in obama's presidency.

at the very least i would've liked to see both sides work to improve upon what the ACA laid out, policy wise. instead we got republicans LITERALLY argue the ACA doesn't work because the website failed (at the time). and they really ran with that for longer than i thought, and the media was eating it for ratings. i could write a long *** post about how bad this country is in terms of politics (ties into sociology and economics too) but i just don't feel up for all that. there are already books that do that lol

:smh: i swear i'm not a patriot because this countries politics has gotten so putrid since barack took office. obama living in the white house really brought out the true colors of america and it ain't red white and blue...

in all, i would gladly pay higher taxes if it meant a single payer health system, and i would also glady pay higher taxes if it meant free higher education for all. limiting education to those who can pay, sets us so back as a society, and we shouldn't have people dying because they can't get access to a doctor. this mentality is exactly why flint is ****** up right now. because why care about a poor city, and those who have very little?

Being Canadian and living in Canada. I can never imagine paying $300 per month just to "insure" my well being. That is so crazy.

That is literally the most capitalist perspective on the human value

Obama is worst president ever. Trump will make America great again. Instead of losing your Barocky Road ice cream to the guy behind you, you get to keep the two scoops you paid for.

So how would this work? Would people have the choice to be part of universal healthcare?

1.) Lower current healthcare costs

2.) Reduce med school costs

3.) Hire more medical staff

Either way, healthcare is expensive. Good healthcare is even more expensive.

How about we go back to how it was? You're not forced to have insurance if you don't want it. The only thing i care about is having dental. The insurance plan i had at work i canceled about three years ago because i never used it. Before that, i had it for about 5 years and used it once and only saved around $20 on that doctors visit.
mean.gif
... Now iv'e been fined around $800 for not having it ($220 last year and $550 this year). insurance for me would be about $300 a month for something i don't even use. F Obamacare.

Yeah that's why I just ride dirty. Not paying 350 a month for some wack insurance when I can just pay out of pocket. It's cheaper just to pay the fine and pay out of pocket if I get sick.

Tooth cleanings are 90 bucks and I got a dentist plug so free X-rays and all that. It's whatever it's garbage I have to pay a fine though. Why not take my fine and give me some garbage insurance you're trying to push on me?

Because millions of people were uninsured, and it was reaching crisis levels.

Says what you will about the ACA, it did achieve its primary goal, of getting millions more covered

And the mandate is necessary for the law to work. Without it, you have a HUGE moral hazard problem

Rusty -- is it possible for a healthcare system to exist that can help people who are uninsured + allow everyone to choose whether they want to be part of it?

I believe it's the German system that's set up so that the very rich can opt out if they please. That's really the only scenario where opting out makes sense. Otherwise its idiotic to want to do so. Of course young folks typically need healthcare less than the elderly but just keep living fam.
