I was surprised too. I only know this because I looked up on buying sushi grade fish.

"Food and Drug Administration regulations stipulate that fish to be eaten raw -- whether as sushi, sashimi, seviche, or tartare -- must be frozen first, to kill parasites"

An extremely great documentary is Jiro Dreams of Sushi. He explains how fresh fish has no taste. It's more about the rice being perfect. It's master level sushi making. Highly recommend it. It's on netflix.
...which is my fear of sushi, getting sick. Gonna watch, thanks!

I eat sushi at those low quality looking Chinese buffets and never got sick. I still need to try some duane reade. Was walking through the city and saw a sushi bar in one and was confused.

The only way you'll get sick off sushi is if you eat some HIGHLY QUESTION sushi.

Like gas station sushi.

Although I'm trying to change this is the only level of freshness I currently accept

This is a sushi appreciation thread, right?

So all levels of sushi should be welcomed & appreciated.

Ol' "If I want real Mexican food, I ain't going to no damn Chipotle" faced a***es

Never liked california rolls too much. They don't have much flavor and I'm not a fan of cucumbers.

Its not being a snob.. more so differentiating the real **** from the butchered ones. Its like you walking up to your crew in team Jordans and they got the latest retros, feel me cuh?

I can only do avacado rolls. That's as far as I'll go.

I actually really love Walgreens Avacado Rolls.
My friend actually tells me that they're really good as well. I didn't believe him, but since someone else is saying so, then maybe I'll try em'. As long as they're priced fairly.
