These dudes were at the forefront of a massive sonic shift in rap music. Though Outkast themselves would take the baton with production starting on the 2nd album and thereafter.

Good to see them being acknowledged accordingly.

Where AirAnt at?

DF!

From Hypebeast....

Established back in 1992, Atlanta’s own Organized Noize (Rico Wade, Ray Murray and Sleepy Brown) have certainly established a firm foundation within the music industry. Working with the likes of Outkast, TLC, Ludacris and many more, Organized Noize will soon be recognized in an upcoming documentary which will highlight its growth and progression titled The Art of Organized Noize. Making the transition to today’s music, you’ll also receive opinions from artists such as Future, Metro Boomin, Sean Combs, 2 Chainz and much more. Expect the documentary to make its official debut March 22nd on Netflix’s streaming platform. Take a look at the trailer above and let us know your thoughts.

Cant wait man. Growing up in Atlanta & watch Outkast & the Dungeon Family blow up on a national stage was a thing to be proud of. They represented us. Thanks OP

Can't wait for this gem. Isn't Rico Wade the unofficial leader of the Dungeon Family, I remember reading an article about the fam around 2000-2001 while in highschool can't wait.

OutKast Evolved With 'ATLiens' And Forced Hip-Hop To Do The Same

Thought this would be a good place for this....
Was just about to come in and ask you to expound on the "sonic shift" they were apart as far as rap?

Not undermining their legacy at all, they are in my top 3 producers and I personally love their work.

But I'm genuinely curious as to who copied them.

Does this article touch on that?

Anyways lowkey mad I gotta wait a month for this.

Read the article fam

Watch the embedded video.

They basically flew the flag for Atlanta in the same year that BIG and Nas dropped their first albums.

Which is a pretty big deal for starters. They put on. And look how hot ATL was thereafter.

And Dre, starting as a straight up rapper, then evolving into the music he would go on to do......he got a few sons out here making noise.

Sometimes it's not as simple as "who copied them".

Word. I just really liked their stuff so I was looking for similar sounding producers/artists from the era.

There's some great music from the Dungeon Fam that isn't as well known.

Cool Breeze
Witchdoctor
Slim Cutta Calhoun
Society Of Soul

They all got joints.

Maybe peep Field Mob. That was a long time ago and I'm not actually from the South. Somebody from there may have a better handle.

I think part of what made what the Dungeon Fam, OutKast and Goodie Mob so ill was that their joints were resonating up East.

 Andre definitely got some kids running around the game right now.

And it woulda been hard to even copy their style cuz it was so different. They had like a funk, outta space, with southern bass sound. And it was always changing southernplayalistic and ATLeins sound nothing alike. Probably the only person I've seen come close to that sound is Big Krit on Cadillactica .
