Has Kanye's Era Come To A Close?

Understandably, he hasn't been the same since his mom passed.

That and being trapped in the hornets nest known as the Kardashian Klan can't be conducive to good/stable mental health  :smh:

Just had a meltdown at my aunt's funeral Saturday, during the reception. Got into a huge fight with my brother, in the middle of the parking lot crying to the point my eyes were almost swollen shut. No one knew what to do for me because I just kept repeating how lost I felt without her, because she was more of a mom than her sister (my mother). My best friend gave me some of the realest advice I've ever heard come from him yesterday, which snapped me out sliding of down a very slippery slope of self-doubt and dismal.

...I can only imagine being on top of the world and your mother dies. That has to be a blow to your confidence and sense of self-determination as a man, since your first cognitive stimulation needed for development comes from your parents.

I honestly think it's a combination of dealing with the burden of his mom passing and being surrounded by WAY too many yes-men, who won't call him out on his ****.

To the latter, I was reading a book on the fall of Enron, and one of the reasons for it's failure was that many of the higher-ups had NO ONE in their inner-circle to play devil's advocate amongst other things when decisions were being made. If you think every decision you make is a good/great one, you're going to develop a false sense of reality and not be prepared when the walls crash down.

I think you can apply this to Kanye to an extent. And as I mentioned it before, Rhymefest alluded to this as well.

Let's not over inflate Tidal. They offer a free trial subscription. Everyone knows a large percentage of that subscriber group will abandon ship after the trial ends.

1. Kanye made MBDTF after his mom passed soooo...

Also this implies that Kanye was some calm non ego centric person before his mom passed. Social media didn't even exist and he still went on all caps rants on his blog pre twitter. He tried to write and star in a a curb your enthiasm style television show. He tried to start a clothing line pastelle. Do you think if Kanye had access to twitter while that stuff was going on he would be calm, cool and collected about it?

Is it possible that Kanye has ALWAYS been this way, but you just never had direct access to his stream on consciousness before.

2. I find all these internet MD's diagnosing Kanye on twitter to be pretty ridiculous and a slightly unseemly.

3. Kanye era not over until there is a new Kanye.

I don't see that person.

Kanye sucks now (as a person). im just in for his shoes.

fan of all albums and not feeling pablo at all.

only good songs are no parties which could have been a single. facts charlie heat because of the beat. and famous is pretty good.

i rocked with all his other albums if that matters to you.

his vma award thing speech or whatever that was, when he scratched his head for 20 mins and told everyone he was running for president...was cringeworthy and the beginning of the end for me as a fan.

very OUT on kanye.

as for his influence however, that hasnt gone away.

kanye as a person is just becoming more and more unlikable even to his fans. im not the only one who feels like this outside of internet world.

he either lost his mind or hes playing this role/act where hes pretending to be nuts so people compare his to a picasso or a "crazy artist"

he also went off the deep end when he started thinking he was a designer which he sucks at honestly.

hes the hot girl that nobody wants to tell is wrong so this is the monster that was created.

It's easy to assume this, but you can't blanket this over everyone's subscription especially because Kanye fans joined this time around. If Kanye says he's never dropping on apple, and that GOOD Fridays will only be on tidal among all his future project, don't you think people will stay on tidal longer?

People say black artist run pop culture: So if most of the top artists are running with Tidal: Beyonce, Rihanna, Kanye, Jay-z etc. you don't think their fans will follow suit?

Even apple music started off with a 3 month free trial. I'm one of the people that chose apple over tidal, and just recently started a subscription with tidal. Exclusive artists to streaming apps is real. Imagine if tidal pulled Adele, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift etc. Their fans will follow.

Dude is a bonehead who feels entitled to whatever he wants.

But isn't that why we like him? Because he's a bonehead?

New album is cool, shoes are still fire, he just has no chill. IDGAF about his marriage, or the Kardashian family like so many other people do. And I barely keep up with the guys life, but when it does come across my attention its always some OD wild ****.

Son begging for money is not the wave though. And he needs to get up off his knees and make his own way. Son got OD bands, but he out here begging the same "white man" that he condemned of so long for bread.

Thats the only real issue I got with dude.

Entrepreneurs ask for money all the time. The reactions to Kanyes persona really highlight how idiotic humans can be

I think his Era is coming to a close. He'll always have the influence on the culture and the classic albums. It's just a cycle. Like when Magic and Bird were passing the torch to MJ. You eventually have to pass the torch can't be on top of the game forever.

It was hardly a blanket statement, since I specified that a percentage would decline when it comes time for the trial membership to end. But I'll bite.

No, I don't believe that a large enough portion of those artists' fans will join any of the streaming services for exclusive content... Or at least not not enough to make a difference. That goes for Apple, tidal, Spotify, etc. This is still the era where not every music listener actually pay for music.

It's about convenience more so than anything. That's why Apple Music gets hailed for giving three months. People were able to fully realize the convenience of the service to the point where the idea of paying $10/month for it seemed like the most trivial thing to do. The convenience of saying "Siri, play _____" and it plays at a moment's notice on a device that a great portion of people actually use is something they can get on board with. I don't believe Kanye saying that he isn't messing with Apple will bring Tidal the numbers he thinks it will. Apple reigns supreme when it comes to convenience. People will get the content one way or another.

^Peep avy, his best album still to date, played it first to last, no skips :pimp:

Watch Jay-z Work with this Tidal Layout:

Rihanna released exclusive to tidal 1/28/2016
Kanye released exclusive to tidal 2/15/2016
(making Tidal #1 app in iTunes)

Beyonce release exclusive to tidal 2/26/2016-3/15/2016??
(I can almost guarantee you she will release an album within this time frame Just to keep subscribers past that first month free.)

After that, it's j. cole, big sean, etc.

I don't know anyone that uses Siri to play music on Apple music. I don't know anyone that uses siri. There is no convenience with Siri, at least not yet.

just a different chapter of kanye thats all.....

That's how I see it

Basically.

Not gonna sit here and pretend I know the dude personally like a lot of people online do but he's been about the same dude publicly forever, he just has a louder voice and wider reach now. People are paying more attention now than ever waiting for reasons to celebrate or dismiss him.

His name has become bigger than the man at this point.

I also enjoyed the new album after a few good listens. It's no MBDTF but it's pretty good for what I was expecting. FSMH is my favorite song of the year so far easily.
