Air Jordan IX Wht/Black/Red HOLIDAY 2016

Got my pair in today.

Shout to those who said go half size up. That was critical for me as I wouldn't be able to wear them otherwise.

Overall, these are better than the trash 2010s I had previously. My mudguard is a good height and the leather is softer than I was expecting.

My 23 on the left shoe is a little off center, but when you put the shoes next to each other it isn't really apparent. Either way I'm satisfied with mine and these will be on foot this weekend.

Got these in finally after FedEx was playin. Really like these. These are my first pair of 9s. Not sure why people say there are uncomfortable. Maybe compared to other Jordans??

so my pair from fnl was scheduled to arrive today. lemme add that i chose the free shipping option. i leave the house around 8:40am to drop off my son to school and i was gone for the rest of the day, didn't get back home til around 10pm. keep in mind the nanny is at the house all day from 7am till around 4pm with my 3 year old. at some point thru out the course of the day i get notification that they have been delivered. cool. i finally get home eager to inspect my pair and there is nothing. i go online to check tracking and sure enough it says they were delivered to my doorstep at 7:39am, which is impossible bc i would have seen the package on my way out in the morning. search all around the house to see if it was put away for me or something... nothing. i look outside again, look on the neighbors' doorsteps... nothing.

free shipping option they use smart post where ups delivers the package to usps and THEY actually deliver the package. this is the 1st time they've done that from MY experience. i order most of my kicks from fnl bc of the WC. nothing. still not sure what happened. i call fnl and basically they're "expediting" me a replacement pair. i live off in the cut where a bunch of old folks live. we are the youngest residents here and there are little to no teenagers in the neighborhood. i know the package wasn't taken off my doorstep bc it NEVER CAME. i'm just curious as to what actually happened bc it damn sure says delivered when i track it.

good thing these are sitting and not a limited release bc i'da been SOL, not to mention furious. i've never had this happen before. not tripping bc they're sending another pair and these prolly won't see light of day til spring or something, but i'm just wanting to know what happened. did the mailman take me off?

Happened to me with my True Blue's. They're sending me another pair today from Nike. Mine was with UPS though and didn't go to the mailman. They just left them on the porch and then vanished. No one was home.

Does USPS tracking say it was delivered? Or just the UPS tracking? It usually takes another day after UPS drops it off with USPS.

My 2016 pair just arrived yesterday. I also have a DS OG pair in pristine condition from 1993 so I figured I would share some quick comparison pics between the two and highlight some obvious differences between them.

Onto the Pics (In all of these the Top is OG, Bottom 2016):

A couple side by side pics (Left is OG, Right is 2016):

Mesh & Lace eyelet comparison (Left is 2016, Right is OG):

Some differences between the OG & 2016 pairs to note: The leather on the OGs is soooo much nicer & softer. The nubuck material is pretty much the exact same. The overall height of the two is identical. The shape is extremely similar as well. The toeboxes are different; it is skinnier with more nubuck material coming up on the OGs vs on the 2016s. On the OGs: the nubuck on the sides of the shoe are skinnier towards the top of the shoe and get thicker towards the bottom; while on the 2016s the nubuck is thicker towards the top and gets skinnier towards the bottom (if that makes sense). The Mesh on the tounge is different: the mesh on the OGs is softer and with different perforations. The lace eyelets are closer together & larger on the OGs. The red is slightly darker on the OGs (however this could be due to age). The tounge liner is much much softer on the OGs. The jumpman on sides of the soles are much bigger on the OGs (also obviously the one on the left shoe is facing a different way). The heel pull tab is much larger on the OGs. The placement of the 23 and globe on the heel are lower on the OGs. The overall stitching is a little bit more pronounced on the OGs. The 2016 pair actually has more padding than the OGs.

Overall, I really think that JB did a nice job with the 2016 retro. The craftsmanship on the 2016s is actually pretty good. Of course there's differences, but you can't expect exact OG specifications 23 years later. I'm just really happy to finally have a wearable pair of this classic shoe.
