What's the hype with MF Doom?

Self explanatory. Granted, I've only tried to listen to Madvillainy, but dude is crazy boring and mundane with his flow, but I see he's held in such high regard. Is there something else of his that I should be listening to?

I used to feel the same way about doom when I was a teenager. Given, I didn't focus on lyrics as much back then. While his flow is monotonous, his rhymes are extremely clever
 
I've never listened to a complete project from him, but every time I heard him, I liked what I heard.
 
His subtextual rhyme scheme is his genius. It makes you double down on what he's saying or risk get caught sleeping. That used to matter. Missing the point was considered a rap faux pas at one period in the genres history.

His wordplay is on another level if you get his references and metaphors. If you don't, it may sound like gibberish. But he's a master of slick talk.

Dude in this video is horrendous.

KMD was "Kausin' Much Damage" or "a positive Kause in a Much Damaged society". Not "Kausin' Much Danger".

They were on Elektra Records. Not Electric. I don't know why he gets it wrong at the beginning. At least he gets it right later.

Horrendous.

One of my all time favorite DOOM verses.






And yeah, that history video ain't the best, but it's the first thing I found in the early AM getting ready for work.
 
That's my favorite DOOM album...

Operation Doomsday is second and Vaudeville Villain is third.
 
So allegedly the long-rumored DOOM Starks album is dropping this month??

True story, I won the "MM.. More Food" recipe contest on MySpace back in the day. Got some cool stuff that I left behind in the divorce. Meh.

Was cool to get a shout out for my fried catfish and shrimp etouffee though.

Used to have that Special Herbs box set too. :smh: So much of my music collection got left behind. I spents years on gathering my favorite stuff. Ugh. :x
