Talia Jane fired from yelp for writing CEO of low pay Vol # Struggles of Low paid tech company emplo

 Funny how a company that makes its money on crowd-sourced reviews on businesses is getting bad reviews.

I mean their score is 3.5/5 on glassdoor so clearly not everyone hates it there.

CEO Jeremy Stoppelman has an 89% approval rate though only 63% of reviewers would recommend the company to a friend.

Mixed feelings on the situation. I feel for those who work their ***** off and don't even get paid a livable wage but I don't really feel bad for Talia Jane specifically .

Get a roomate...don't work in SF.

$12 an hour sucks, but there are things she could have done on her end to not be in this situation.

Yep. People expect others to change their situation instead of doing it themselves

This might be the most poorly written thread title of all time

Maybe you should have majored in English OP

How do people who agreed to a salary and signed a contract to do work at said salary complain about not getting paid enough?

i mean honestly
at the time u need a job and will take anything
but i think folks deserve steady raises
especially when u take the cost of living in a particular region into account
my girl works for a hospital
on top of her yearly raise
she also gets a cost of living raise as well

Coming out of college without much more than freelancing and tutoring under my belt, I felt it was fair that I start out working in the customer support section of Yelp/Eat24 before I’d be qualified to transfer to media. Then, after I had moved and got firmly stuck in this apartment with this debt, I was told I’d have to work in support for an entire year before I would be able to move to a different department. A whole year answering calls and talking to customers just for the hope that someday I’d be able to make memes and twitter jokes about food. If you follow me on twitter, which you don’t, you’d know that these are things I already do. But that’s neither here nor there.
So she admits she had to start out with a low-paying gig. This is completely understandable.

Then she complains, elaborating that her goal is essentially a nice cushy job that pays well and allows her to "make memes and twitter jokes about food."

i worked for a company where they asked the employees to post a positive review. LOL

can see sue
and get money for how she was fired
please understand that the letter she wrote wasn't actually just to her ceo...

it was posted publicly, complaining about her job and giving opinions on their training/work culture....

I'm pretty sure an employee giving a company bad press publicly would violate some part of the employee guidelines she probably agreed to follow when she got the job.

I'd have more sympathy for the chick if she actually send the letter straight to her ceo and then was fired.

Acting a fool on a bootleg tumblr page.... not surprised

....and then theres this

Is Brie good?
Had it maybe 2-3 times
Seemed more like cream cheese
And didn't see the hype
Had it on crackers
Anyone recommend me a good brand :nerd:

@GWAP -- glad you posted that. The truth comes out one way or another.

She played the safe card by aligning herself as a "feminist," so if this goes against her, she'll have her fellow feminists defend her.

I've had it and it's meh, I've heard by cheese lovers that it has to be be aged well and eaten at room temp in order to really get the flavor from it. I've never really like it the times I've had it.

From another forum but about people keeping it real at wrong time.
So I started my first day as a staff accountant at this corporate company. I've never been a staff accountant before nor have I worked in a corporate environment. I was really nervous about it and I wasn't even sure if I could stand being in a business outfit all day.

Anyway, I get there and after filling out the necessary paperwork, I'm left at my cubicle with nothing to do. My computer isn't hooked up since they couldn't find the power cord and they weren't even sure if they had done a background check on me. After filling out my background information, I was left at my cubicle again with no instructions whatsoever. I was told before that I was going to be in training but nothing happened.

So I just sat there at the desk for two and a half hours. I was on my phone practically the entire time and I was bored stupid. After two and a half hours I had had enough. So I went to my boss and told her that I don't think this is a good fit. I told her that they don't seem organized and told her that I wasn't doing anything. She told me that it's only the first day and that I'm in training. But I told her that I haven't done anything and I wasn't even getting trained. So I told her that I'm leaving and am going home.

And now I'm at home. I called a couple of my friends, my boyfriend, and my mom called me and they all think that I made a huge mistake and should go back and ask for my job back. So I called my boss back and she said "No. You're done." And that was it.

After getting told that I screwed up, that I ruined my future, that this is how the corporate world works, I'm feeling very depressed. It definitely hit me that I made a huge mistake. Why don't I just kill myself now and get it over with? I have no future anyway, right? Why does the corporate world work this way?! This is horrible! Maybe I'm not meant to be in a corporate environment. Maybe I'm just meant to make minimum wage and be stuck at some dead-end job.

I hate my life. Did I **** up my future that badly?!

TL;DR: I quit a corporate position after doing nothing but sitting for 2.5 hours. And now I'm paying for it, I guess.
