Talia Jane fired from yelp for writing CEO of low pay Vol # Struggles of Low paid tech company emplo

she knew what she was doing. ol girl was fed up with her job and instead of putting in the two wks, she just spazzed out. unless she got some kind of talent, interested to see how future employers view her

There's 2 sides to this, there are definitely some things she could've done on her end like roommate living arrangement rather than getting her own place etc. but let's not deny that Yelp is a horrible company.  I know and spoke with a good amount of former yelpers and every single one of them said it was the worst tech company to work for.  The way they do business is horrible as well, definitely not going to use their reviews and going to use google, trip advisor, zagat etc.

There's too many jobs in SF to settle. In fact, there was a FitBit gig(entry-level) that paid $17 with no experience required. Min. Wage is going to $15/be anyways so she should be fine if she moves to Concord or some ****.

Yelp is just horrible to their employees and low paid across the board.  Support Positions like hers in other companies I know pay in the $15-18 an hr range

From another forum but about people keeping it real at wrong time.

So I started my first day as a staff accountant at this corporate company. I've never been a staff accountant before nor have I worked in a corporate environment. I was really nervous about it and I wasn't even sure if I could stand being in a business outfit all day.

Anyway, I get there and after filling out the necessary paperwork, I'm left at my cubicle with nothing to do. My computer isn't hooked up since they couldn't find the power cord and they weren't even sure if they had done a background check on me. After filling out my background information, I was left at my cubicle again with no instructions whatsoever. I was told before that I was going to be in training but nothing happened.

So I just sat there at the desk for two and a half hours. I was on my phone practically the entire time and I was bored stupid. After two and a half hours I had had enough. So I went to my boss and told her that I don't think this is a good fit. I told her that they don't seem organized and told her that I wasn't doing anything. She told me that it's only the first day and that I'm in training. But I told her that I haven't done anything and I wasn't even getting trained. So I told her that I'm leaving and am going home.

And now I'm at home. I called a couple of my friends, my boyfriend, and my mom called me and they all think that I made a huge mistake and should go back and ask for my job back. So I called my boss back and she said "No. You're done." And that was it.

After getting told that I screwed up, that I ruined my future, that this is how the corporate world works, I'm feeling very depressed. It definitely hit me that I made a huge mistake. Why don't I just kill myself now and get it over with? I have no future anyway, right? Why does the corporate world work this way?! This is horrible! Maybe I'm not meant to be in a corporate environment. Maybe I'm just meant to make minimum wage and be stuck at some dead-end job.

I hate my life. Did I **** up my future that badly?!

TL;DR: I quit a corporate position after doing nothing but sitting for 2.5 hours. And now I'm paying for it, I guess.

This dude is an entitled idiot. You can't make an assessment about the company from just 2.5 hours

I would have been on my phone posting on NT and running some SpaceChem. When they ready for me, they will come get me, otherwise I will sit my *** here doing nothing and getting paid for it

And most importantly, don't quit one job without a backup plan. That should be common sense :smh:

How can you judge a career 2.5 hours into the first day? idiot, I hope things don't go his way for a while.

Wow this sounds like a comedy skit

"I don't think this is the right fit"

LOLOL

The Yelp employee is another genius..send an embarrassing email to the CEO..really

It's still mind boggling to me that someone can be upset at not being able to make money off tweeting about food.

What is wrong with this generation. Just pure laziness and lack of self resonsibility.

Wow...disgusting. This entitled lil brat has pictures of her eating out, cooking fancy steaks, etc. :smh:

But shorty got 50 Cent syndrome, saying her lifestyle is one thing but portraying another on social media

Good read.

I think there were some good points like roommate living arrangement, finding additional sources of income besides her day job but just because she's broke doesn't mean she can't enjoy simple things like some good food or alcohol.  I don't get it when ppl talk about low income working ppl like they should literally live like robots and ****.

I see what she is saying, but low salary in a high cost of living state means move and look for another job.

*Always wanted the chance to say this*

These damn kids....

*Old man hat off*

When I was 25, I was working at the same spot I'm working now (8 years later) making $13 an hour an hour. My wife was in school, living off loans, and we had a baby daughter. We also lived in a respectable 2 bd, 2 bath apt IN DC.

I worked 9-5 M-F (in an office, as a temp, no benefits), and worked Tues, Thurs-Sat from 11-2:30 as a bouncer at a club in College Park ($50 a night). I'd be home at 3 and up by 8 to go back and work my office gig. I did that for about 9 months.

good food and alcohol cost money. If you can't make money you are not entitled to the luxuries in life. Thinking luxury comes before wealth is a losers mindset.

Work hard so you can afford to spend money in the future. Too many excuses for not being successful these days, it's just being lazy.
