Is The, "It Is Disrespectful To Your Ancestors If You DON'T Vote" Logic Still Valid?

I am not voting this time, after Obama screwed me on Obamacare, I am just living the American Dream from now on

I fully believe that trump is going to be president

The elites won't let it happen. Hillary has this locked.

The way I see it, it is disrespectful to those who came before us who fought for the right to vote. However, we live in country where we are "free" to choose not to, so there's always the choice to opt out of the system. From my perspective, people should still be educated and up to date with what's going on with their country and participate in their civic duty if they're going to moan and whine about things. If people are going to be laissez-faire and cool about what's going on, and don't vote, then that's their choice too.

if america crumbles I sure hope canada will find a way to keep out all these lazy illegal immigrants

If some of you guys that plan on not voting are OK with having Trump as President so be it.

I actually WANT Trump to be president and not because I agree with anything he says. I want a legit out in the open racist to be the face of a legit out in the open racist country. Then people can drop the "racism/slavery/civil rights struggle is over" routine.

That post racial crap needs to die and pretending there is no HUGE gap in opportunities, housing, education, policing, prosecution, etc. between white and black people is the way people can justify what's really going on. Well let's do away with the pretending.

As for voting, my ancestors died for a lot of things and we still barely have any of those things. All voting does is legitimizes the crap choices we get. I'm not voting anymore unless a politician proves they're going to do something for black people specifically. I'm not a minority, so don't lump me in with LGBT, white women, etc.

@Brolic Scholar -- Patrice O'Neal was an advocate for bringing back hate speech, most notably so that people would be exposed for who they really are and to also kill this new PC society America has become.

And that's real. Too many people hiding these days. If you're a racist, be one. Stop pretending for us, you cowards. Stand on what you believe in.

They died so that you would have the Right to vote. Their mission is accomplished. It's your own personal decision to choose to or choose not to exercise your rights.

Their mission was never accomplished...

You really think all MLK, X, Garvey, Tubman, Douglass, etc. wanted was for us to go to school with white kids and vote for politicians that couldn't care less about us... Obama included?

White folks have us so damned brainwashed. :smh: This **** is pathetic. That we even ALLOW Hillary Clinton to come near us is shameful.

OP is strictly speaking on voting...nothing more nothing less. You, me, Op, and any one else in this country has the right to vote. Based on that alone, the mission is accomplished as far as the right to vote is concerned.

If you want to speak on another part of the overall vision that our leaders had for our communities then Im all for it. But we're talking about the right to vote. We have that.

Don't try to put me in this category of "brainwashed folks". Ive been awake.

Wasn't talking to you specifically. I'm speaking in general. But do what makes you feel good man. I'm not wasting my time.

My ancestors probably don't care about me voting for an American president.

Also with the way the electoral college works my vote doesn't really matter anyways.

Local elections > Presidential

Repped. Our ancestors fought cuz they thought voting would change things and that hasn't worked. When you're voting you're just going along with the system especially for the president. It's 2016 and things still haven't changed. Unarmed Black men still getting killed in the streets by cops, police brutality is still a major issue. It's been worse since we've had a black president. Mass incarceration is still a problem. I seriously doubt Trump will get in but if he did so what. Then it will really expose how f'up the country is. The fact that he's gotten this far is exposing things.

I'm critical of the US government as well, but voting was never proven not to work. In fact, states with the lowest amount of civic participation (ie Voting) often have the lowest qualities of life. I don't think that's a coincidence. I also don't think its a coincidence that there are still people working on supressing black and low income voters in the form of voter ID laws.

Things have NOT gotten worse since Obama took office, either. Stop propagating that nonsense. People are more aware of the issues and the media reports on said issues much more frequently, but things haven't gotten worse just because people started talking about it. You really think there weren't hundreds of Mike Browns/Tamir Rices during the civil rights movement? The only difference is that those weren't news stories in the early to mid 1900s because race relations were wayyyyy worse back then.

At one point in time, approximately 30% of all white men born in Indiana were in the KKK. Public lynchings weren't just a thing, but considered a valid form of entertainment for the family. I'm not saying things have ever been great here, but they have definitely improved. If you have yet to be bitten in the *** by a police dog, had a high pressure firehose pointed at your face, or literally chased out of your neighborhood, I think you are very naive about how bad race relations were in this country at one time.

Buying into the system whether we truly know if the voting system works for presidential election, I'm not about that life because I believe that it really doesn't matter because the electoral vote is what "matters" then it'll go on to the Elites to have the final approval.

The President is nothing more than a puppet to be shown with "power" but the true person with power, hides behind close doors.

But I'm not saying much.
