OG Nike Air Jordan III Retro True Blue BLACK FRIDAY '16

You want perfection when you are paying over $235 for an item....no matter what it is. I felt no shame checking and returning pairs to various retailers before I found a decent pair. This shoe is a grail...the playoff 9s aren't but they outsold the TB3. Why??? Because the 9s have much better quality.

If you cared about getting a high quality shoe for the price point, you would not be buying retro Jordans in 2016. End. of. story.

you are a lie. My 2 black toes, breds, flu games, I can go on and on had great quality. And some pairs absolutely perfect

Yeah, I'm against modifying that shoe, not that serious for me.

I'll just go with what Nike what the shoe to be.

I'm still debating if I want to keep my extra pair or try and sell it since I got a pair off Swoosh.
Hold Hold on to them bad boys for about foe or  fie years... keep em in the closet then sell them for about foe fie hunnit.

I'm just gonna throw my two bits in cuz I ain't doing f all right now.

I work in sales for a manufacturing co. It's a general rule when you sell more volume of any type of good, your return rate will be higher.

We all know that these were probably one of the highest number produced J's this year, combine that with how picky we all are here, of course we will find flaws as small or large as they are.

I read folks say the WC4's were near flawless... Really? No one remembers the jacked up leather that looked like it was drooping on the side of the shoe? Or the mismatched leather grain on the toe boxes? Or that pairs (mine) had the black specks on the cement paint smudge if someone clipped your heel or side?

Well guess what, besides this release it was also one of the highest released numbered shoe this year also. Kinda funny how it got more of a pass because it was the Wc4.

Nike also dropped the ball on the 5s with the E on the back stitching, dudes still bought and kept and moved on...

To my point though, more produced, more flaws. I'm not saying it's justified workmanship, and you as a consumer definitely don't have to accept it. For all the flaws that happen at the company I work for, we accept the returns and eat the cost. It hurts our bottom line and the boys in manufacturing hear **** for it and corrections are implemented.

Not trying to flame anyone or start a debate, just giving my 2 cents on it all.

I'm enjoying mine, flaws and all. Hope you can too.

They may be "perfect," but the quality still sucks.

There's really no polite way of saying this, but if you don't look at these releases as garbage from the quality side, you've just not been around long enough to have experience with the brand when it did produce objectively high quality products. Sometimes, the nostalgia or design, hype, WHATEVER, appeals to you enough that you're willing to sacrifice the quality, but you should be making that decision with both eyes open. That's fine. I stopped paying attention to JB close to ten years ago, but still come out for a release or two each year that I "can't resist."

When quality started first going in the tank on Jordan releases, more than a decade ago, people complained about it here and it was understandable. At this point, I can't help but laugh when people take to message boards to complain about the quality of Nike and JB retro products. Poor quality is the norm. It's like going to McDonalds and complaining about the quality of the meat. That's what the establishment is known for and established as its standard offering - you are ordering crap. Don't complain when they give you what you order.

Yep people had a main gripe with every $220 NA OG joint that has released so far:

Maroon 6 - Tongue bleeding on to the inside collar.

White Cement 4 - Smudged cement speckles

Black Metallic 5 - NIKE

True Blue 3 - "Hard leather"

...and when the Bred 4's drop it'll be something about them. Funny thing is the same people who were unhappy with the first 4 releases are still going to buy those.

Indeed - the only complain that matters is voting with your wallet.

So long as you continue to buy the product, your complaints hold no merit.

Man I'm 31 years old. I still got OG Js from the 90s (still at my moma house) and 2000s. I know quality!!! Sometimes you gotta choose a lesser evil. A lot of yall just complain and complain. Has anyone ever tried to do something. Possibly get JB attention??? Well at least I've tried to discuss it in this thread I started.

So have you stopped buying Jordans??? Don't call the kettle black. Everyone needs to keep complaining. Let your voice be heard. That's what this message board is for. And if the shoe has issues then return the shoe. JB aint stupid. They see this crap. Change won't happen if you hush up like BIP Roberts suggests. Keep complaining and posting pics of flaws.

Do yall have holes in the midsole paint
Those are called pores. If you have them return the shoe asap. It's the first step to a 3 cracking. It was explained to me by numerous Jordan restorers on IG. Pores means the midsole is starting to break down already. It's just like pores in rock or concrete structures.

If you're 31 you missed the era of the first wave of OG's.

As someone who is 25 + years older than you I can tell you from first hand experience that the quality on the og's left a lot to be desired.
Some of the same quality issues evident back are still being discussed and complained about today.

Things like shape, leather quality etc...that will continue to be debatable with retros vs OG. I get that. These dudes are posting pics with bad stitching, crooked elephant print, botched paint jobs, and soles with pores. That's not bad quality. Those are defects not worthy off purchase at any price.

I wish I could say that I forsee Nike trying a lil harder here and there and putting in more effort to make sure the bred 4s don't end up botched and consequently experience higher rates of return but I'd probably be wrong. Idk tho all these stories of outlet returns and foot store employees already knowing why customers are returning their tb3s might send shockwaves to Beaverton where they may casually notice. It really doesn't matter bc I'll end up buying the bred 4s anyway but now I'm going to be "that guy" at these retail store who asks for 4 size 10s and sifts thru em all to get the best left and best right to make my pair. Also use that time to scoop the least dented up box. Sorry it's come to this. Shoes are $220 and I expect quality but every single time I wear them they will show more wear and dirt. I'm one of those guys that wears the shoes years after I cop so I feel my nitpickiness is warranted. At the end of the day I'm the customer and I'm right. Also I'm American so I'm SUPER right.

I've said many times that for Nike to take the next leap forward in quality they need own the factories that produce the shoes.

Normally i dont complain about any release, but im gonna stress to you it was terrible.

I purchased the following and didnt not complain once because there was a fsr in every store online i copped because im avide sneaker collector The metallic 5, the maroon 6,wc4 werent limited there were nooooooo quality issuess there. and theses sneakers sat around a month after release. restocked and restocked again. but the true blues were unacceptable. once again every shoe the guy brought out was noticeably bad
I've seen in person some very horribly crafted WC4s and Maroon 6s with glue stains, odd paint marks all over the sole bottom and brush strokes over the visible air window, various midsole defects, etc.

The TB3 that I got is made pretty perfect so I got lucky.

BM5s are the most consistent in terms of craftsmanship from what I've seen at different stores around town.

I think long ago the B grades or factory seconds back in the day never made it to our shores (usually ended up at factory outlets or 3rd world markets), but now they just mixed them all in for the retail channels (this goes for all brands, even Made in USA NBs). It's a luck of the draw these days. If it's bad just don't buy and walk away.

For the people that are complaining about the upper, the quality leather that you guys are after have hit much higher price points in recent years. The MSRP for these are almost at least double, even 4 digits for the Italian made sneakers.

JB will not give you Horween leather quality for $220, and never did even back in the 80's. Sure the Reeboks of the time had much softer synthetic leather but wear it hard and the thin surface will start to peel off. The perceived quality was higher but the real quality was just as bad. Nothing much changed in 30 years.

complaining wont matter if you still buying....i think BIP was saying that shutting your wallet would change more then complaining

A lot of crying these days about quality...and too many remember when war story's...

Here is the cold hard truth...

Dudes is *****ing about the price...plan and simple...

If these wasn't $220 and was $125 maybe even $150...my local outlet wouldn't have a FSR of returns sitting on the shelves...

Price, availability, and reproduction (damn let the last retro breathe a little) is what's causing the complaining....

Don't let dudes confuse the conversation by blaming it on the fact the there should be 248 elephant print stripes and there pair only has 246 so they returned them...

When these eventually get marked down they will fly off the shelves...as they should

Someone wake me up when they start putting Jumpmans on the back again
