OG Nike Air Jordan III Retro True Blue BLACK FRIDAY '16

From my POV I'd have to judge these from the 03 Cements, those were really comfty. Just because they cost the most doesn't mean maximum comfort.
Unfortunately I don't own a pair of 03 wc, I have the 2011 wc and the 2013 fire reds but don't get me wrong in no way shame or form am I saying these are better but it does feel like there's a bit more cushion on the insole compared to the other pairs i own

So heres my little story about the quality control issue.I ordered 2 pairs. 1 from nike + reserve and 1 from SNS.

Nike+ was perfect but SNS pair came with some midsole paint issue. Kind of bugged me but didnt want to go through the hassle of returning it. However when I was entering raffles for space jam 9s and 11s I saw the TB sitting everywhere and checked out the pairs and pretty much all of them looked near perfect and better then mine.
So finally I decide I am going to go ahead and buy another pair and send the defective pair back to nike.
I hit up the spots in Santa monica and only 1 store had my size. All other places sold out. They bring me 1 pair, looks worn, creased on toe box, and a black spot on the leather. I figured it was a return so asked for another pair. Second pair had the NA so off centered it was ridiculous, my gf even laughed at the pair. (cant believe those even passed LC). So again I ask the employee for another and she even noticed the NA basically on the side. The final pair looks almost perfect until I look at the back. The EP was rubbed off right below the NA. That was the last pair I asked for.

Couldnt believe all the noticeable flaws. It made my flawed pair look near perfect compared to those footaction pairs. Nike messed up bad on these. I'm going to hit up a few more spots this week but might just have to keep my flawed SnS pair.

Any idea why Nike pulled these from their website? There's no way they're soldout. Maybe they did the right thing, and unloaded them to outlets so they could stop handing out 20% off discount codes like Halloween candy.

I sent my pair back to Footlocker UK yesterday, just couldn't live with the inconsistent ep sections, plus the sole of the left shoe was twisted-it wobbled when it was on a flat surface. Shame really

Probaly embarrassed that they're sitting on NDC like that. Lol.

If I find a good price down the road. Maybe like $160-$170, I'll triple up. My 2 pairs are fine and I have no complaints on them.

Haven't worn my pair. Will return after price drop and buy right back. Still hard to believe these cost as much as my jams

Maybe to create the illusion that they were sold out

Yeah I was wondering where they went on NDC

Yeah, there's no way this CW should've sat. It really is embarrassing. Just happy that my 1 pair is fine, they've become my beater of choice.

Also agree with those that said Nike removed them as a gimmick to hype the coming "restock".

C'mon y'all... embarrassing? Because they are available two weeks later? By that logic, every original Jordan release, sans a few XIs, was embarrassing, cause they would take upwards of a year to fully move.

Plus, don't forget, these are not worth no damn $220, these are $100 sneakers at best. So they are no losing ANYTHING if these move at the outlets for $150+.

For me, it's not necessarily the fact that they're available two weeks later. I could care less about that stuff -- like I said, I have a pair of these despite calling the release terrible. It's how many FSRs are laying around and WHY they're laying around. As spoon said, the quality on these are generally terrible with a myriad of inconsistencies. Even though I say my pair is fine (and it looks way better than many of the flawed pairs posted here) , there's a dent on the left shoe and a poor paint job in small spots on both shoes. I really don't care because I bought my pair to wear, but that doesn't mean that others will be as forgiving (and they shouldn't -- if everyone was lax like me, we'd be paying $500 for cardboard).

I think all the data points to these being a desired release that failed due to quality issues. If the quality on these kicks were good, I think they'd be legitimately sold out (or at least harder to find).

I'll use an analogy of basketball recruits. Take two role players that post similar stats. One was a #1 draft pick who was one and done in college and rated 5 stars in HS and the other was undrafted and rated 3 stars out of high school. The first guy would be seen as a huge disappointment while the second would be seen as an overachiever and a hero to his hometown. Ti me, the True Blues were a blue chip #1 draft pick prospect. I've been hyped about these the whole year and so have many others. It just flopped due to poor QC from Nike.

$220+ tax is a little steep for a color way that's similar to my infrared 23 and Fire reds. I'll pick it  up  If it drops to around $160.  That's just me.

Quality is a problem, but I think these didn't sell because people were holding out for the space jams. At $220, maybe people didn't want to spend on both. I bought both, and I think both of them are great shoes, but, if someone showed me the TB3s and the space jams and said which ones do you think cost more, I would say the space jams. I think there are more of the younger kids out there who don't really have the nostalgia with the 3s like the older guys like me do. And the 11s are impressive, flashy...I mean even the packaging looks more worthy of a $220 price tag, but I couldn't pass up on these. I wish I could have paid less for these, but I never thought these would sit.

Price tag was definitely a factor. These shoes were clearly not representative of an average name brand shoe at $220 pricepoint, so anybody on the fence would be more inclined to just hold their money. I still cling to my belief that if these shoes were butter and the elephant print was nice and so on, they would've done much better, but both of your points are well taken.

Just going off quality, this release isn't even worth the $160... BT1s were pretty obtainable at retail (when I say pretty obtainable I mean relatively speaking when it comes to recent OG 1s) and those are worth every penny of that $160. I'd say I'd use WC4s as a reference for "$220 done right". Just a pure hypothetical, I think the WC4 would've done better just from being a well made shoe had it released around the holidays, despite people holding their money for the Jams. Obviously, that can't be proven/

I don't think quality is the main factor to these sitting. The colorway is just not one that gets the masses fired up like the others. WC3 and BC3 would not be sitting had either of those released with the exact same quality. I honestly never knew a single person who owned these back in the late 80's.. they're similar to Grape 5's and Maroon 6's in that they're not Bulls colors so they were pretty low on totem pole when it came time to pick out a new pair of shoes for the year.

I just think they overestimated the demand for these.
