FX: "Taboo" Tom Hardy...Officially Renewed for Season 2

Really? Damn... Oh well. Show really ain't about **** anyway. Just one dude trying to fight the government and a corporation who will ultimately lose to both.

I was extremely let down by the finale. I thought it was confusing, didn't resolve anything at all, didn't give me a reason to watch another season, and did a terrible job of answering the "what's the point" question I had lingering all season.

Season up until the last episode: 7.8/8

Season finale 3/8

So in its entirety, the show gets a 5.4/8
Watching this show can be a little like Groundhog Day.

It's like they've said the same thing each episode, but changed the dialogue. I know this, it's been a Love Hate relationship for me and reading your post has me ready to forget about the show and move on.

I hope I see it different once I watch the episode.

Tomorrow is the US season finale. It already aired though in the UK.

I enjoyed the finale.

Don't get any of the complaints so far.

I'll wait until Tuesday to talk more about it though.

that battle was confusing

seems like they coulda dipped and not even had to fight

After setting off the explosives by the entrance, no clue why they stick around and fight and risk lives

Also no clue why certain ppl weren't already on the ship ready to go.. at the most they're on the ship with guns ready for those making their way there

I was confused by the whole episode to be honest.

Delaney knew the company killed Winter so he let the madam snitch on him so he could be arrested for treason just so he could leverage/blackmail Sir Stuart (assuming he'd survive torture) about that charge with all those ppl enslaved and killed by company men to get a boat, safe passage out of English waters.

Sir Stuart let the women go and burns all other evidence. The crown is forced to free Delaney. He figures out the American spy dude, let's call him Doug is also secretly in the pocket of Sir Stuart. You see Stuart knew Delaney was working with Americans but just needed hard proof and even though he helped Delaney get out he was gonna have Doug force Delaney to sign some papers selling or signing over the rights of Nunca (that American passage to China) to Stuart. Delaney figured it out, had Ms. Bow get the safe passage to America from the rich American spy lady, strung Doug up and sent a bomb to Stuart's office.

Last thing to worry about is the crown who aint get **** out of this and ended up looking like fools. Delaney knew the army would be sent to kill him and maybe even pursue him by boat. So he had his chemist make some explosives and started killing red coats.

Now you can say this is the confusing part. I think it wasn't shot/executed so well. They aint run after the first explosion cuz they sent a lot of soldiers and they surrounded the port. So even if they killed 20-40 soldiers more are coming and it's not so easy to just set sail and jet off. Anybody on deck would've got gunned down. Also you have to chalk things up for how fights and warfare were at the time. Plus the chemist could only make so many explosives. They had to engage them. Could've been shot better.

The madame's death just looked dumb.

Also Zilpha apparently killed herself.

Considering they had more bombs..

just no clue why they didnt line up all their guys while they had them coming through that 1 single entrance.. and use a combination of the riffles and bombs.. or bomb the bridge they came across after the entrance way, so there are 2 traps

Just seemed poorly planned other than the initial explosive

I enjoyed the shot out of that finale.

Masterful planning. It's not the easiest to follow if you're watching and texting or surfing the web but if your into it and leave everything else alone while you watch, it's fairly easy to follow and very well thought out.

Zik gave the dope run down that should clear up any confusion.

They had to stay and fight simply because they didn't set sail earlier. That's why Mrs. Delaney was rushing James Delaney, to avoid interruptions like that. The chemist could have had bomb after bomb to throw into that tunnel but the red coats were deep, other than the 3 waves we got to see them fight off, you better believe there were 10 more waves coming. Time was not on their side with all those moving parts Delaney had going but in the end we got a battle, Delaney got all wishes, Zilpha dead but body not found yet and she's not singing to Delaney yet so of course she's still alive.

Sir Stuart is dead.
Mr Chichester (black lawyer) got his justice.

And we have a setup for a Season 2 in his mothers world.

Dope first run, dope ending, I'm down.

Agreed. Great analysis on this page by Master Zik Master Zik and a-friend a-friend .

The thing the show didn't do a good job of (like Zik mentioned) was showing how long it takes to prepare a ship for sea and then set sail. We can assume that the crew had to stow all of their provisions, make sure the ship was sea worthy and ready to sail and then unmoor the ship and they had what, a 3 hour window to do all of that from the time Delaney was freed (subtracting from the 4 hour window he gave while in prison)?

They didn't have time to just blow everything up and trying to run without a fight would've had the ship and crew being blasted up while all on the deck of the ship. He had to thin their numbers out or face a whole platoon or maybe a company (up to 150 armed men) just blasting at them like fish in a barrel.

It seems James also had some military strategy in his repertoire. I've never seen the first episode because it wasn't on demand for some reason, so I didn't get to hear his entire background, but he knew what he was doing and timed everything as best he could.

Excellent show. I hope it gets a second season. "We ARE Americans." Dope way to say America stayed/stays scheming.

Gonna watch the finale tonight but just came in to say I  at this scene in the 2nd to last episode when Chichester and Delaney are talking....

Chichester: Perhaps I should come back at a better.....
Delaney: No. I'm always like this. Carry on.

Or something to that effect
