Man it's so hard to watch his sister get beaten and basically raped every night. Can someone explain why the sister hates James? Is it because she considers herself Christian and he represents the devil to her? I just don't see why she would stay married to a dude that beats and rapes her, when her brother is rich and just wants to satisfy her every desire
 
Incest is a sin and is pretty embarrassing in society to be engaging in.

Beating and raping your wife was extremely common in the world not just England at that time. She gonna leave him and go where and do what? She'd be destitute.

Different world. Women stay today where they do work and have careers. Women back then were dependent on the husband to provide everything. And considering her family, she had upgraded. She was a member of society.

He doesn't work for anyone. He's like a civil rights lawyer. Advocating for the deaths of ppl who were enslaved and then drowned on a ship after they were taken and sold against their will. He's just trying to bring Sir Stewart and the East India company to justice for their crimes against humanity.

Can't totally place his accent but I'd assume he learned English in England.
