Most of NT's appreciation threads pretty much objectifies women to the point of of unrealistic existence. As a married man, I'd like to give appreciation to the women that wake up every day and give it their best. Men often complain about the lack of decent women without asking an essential question, what are we basing this ideal on? What if there was a thread which showcases REAL womanhood? What if more women joined NT and shared their stories, their experiences or requested feedback on how to achieve their own ideals? Let's Be Better Men...

Bro...get yourself a hobby
What if generating worthwhile conversations online while I'm working was my productive hobby? It's a lot better than being a tragic ignominious troglodyte angry at its own failure to evolve and wants to take humanity with them into oblivion.

No disrespect but take a brake from the "new thread" button for a while.
Honestly, none taken. But unlike many of you who feel like you sound "cool" or  believe you're "definitive" are actually hurting this community. Some of us actually care what happens here, whether you understand what's happening or not. If you take a close look at the analytics, the women that DO frequent Niketalk are college educated. I doubt that they're here to marvel at the unrealistic representation of women. If you truly care about the community, why not take the opportunity to improve not only relations, but improve our numbers? But you'd rather act like you're "the man" like that.

I'd love to converse with new members, ideally more productive women, hopefully they'll overlook your ineptitude and engage in threads such as these.

you clearly dont understand how NT General works. Women get shook and ran off in this section. Every so often new ones appear and overtime they get missing.

and yea you right, i am the man like that.

...judging off your language and perception, you seem to have no problem harassing, abusing or running off women. Kudos.

Yea good luck with those assumptions young fella.

Go entertain your wife man, and stop being thirsty for good threads on NT. Take a brake.

You mean like the assumption you make when you create a NT account based around a NFL team, and its quarterback you though were gonna win the Super Bowl?

You don't know web analytics, sports, or women...and clearly not even the women of NT, or the history of General itself, because it wasn't always this  barren. You can't even use "break" in its correct context. You're good for nothing on NT.
Just want it to be you and "the fellas" on NT huh?

...okay. You can go sit with the other Cam Newton male fans who are Type-A, can't read or write and REALLY embarrass the women of your family everyday. Everything about you is failure. You're not fooling anyone, there was no need for you to enter the thread if you didn't plan on contributing.

You clearly have egodystonic issues which impacts your ability to respect adult women, or converse about them in a way which doesn't objectify them. This thread has struck that nerve.

What female hurt you, breh?

"Lets be better men"

Huh
Better men as a the other half of the human species. Not taking anything away from the appreciation threads, think about all the women who try to live up to that ideal. It's not socially responsible at all.

There's being real and then there's being unrealistic to the point it's laughable. Those threads build up women and tear them down in the same thread. The older I get it just looks horrible.

The point of this thread was balance, discussing women with respect. I can see women joining in conversations like these.

Maybe women will join NT and help guys like @YoungThunderCat. He clearly is bothered by the idea of treating and respecting women as equals.

Kerri Johnson, an associate professor in the departments of communication studies and psychology at UCLA, thinks it’s likely we’ve evolved to have certain preferences, but that culture mediates those preferences. When she asks people to pick out how their mind’s eye sees the “average” woman, test subjects choose thinner women with smaller waist-to-hip ratios than reality.

The ideal female body according to the men (the one shown on the left in each pair, above) had a BMI of 18.82, a waist-to-hip ratio ratio of .70, and a waist-to-chest ration of .67. The men in the study designed a very similar female ideal (not shown): 18.8, .73, and .69 respectively.

“Our mental representation of the average woman is more extreme than anything you will see in Vogue,” she said. “And this happens by age 5.”

Still, context matters.

When UCLA researchers asked to select among a number of possibilities, men entering a university dining hall — presumably hungry — preferred slightly heavier women than did men leaving — and presumably no longer hungry. Similarly, men with more money in their wallets — and so “resource rich” — preferred thinner women than did men who had no money in their pockets.

When we are establishing ideals for body shapes, Johnson said, we may actually be seeking strong cues for masculinity and femininity. For example, in her studies, people often say smaller is better for a woman’s waist.

“At some point you’d think that a very small waist-to-hip ratio would be seen as unnatural and unattractive, but we have not hit that lower boundary. In fact, people tell us they look natural and very attractive even when shaped like Barbie.” That holds true across genders.
