The end of Instagram............?

There's a few doco's on 'instamodels' who organically built up a tonne load of followers (millions) and were being paid to advertise their products.

Some companies would pay 5 figures for the model to take a half naked picture recommending their moisturiser etc.  Millennials lap up that ****, constantly craving real-user reviews/recommendations on products that are most likely fabricated the by company itself.  It's just more authentic when it comes to social media.  Don't be fooled, it's just smart marketing.

Same rule applies to those who run those multi-million-followed accounts.  Here's a picture, here's a caption and here is the time/date.  5k will be deposited into your account.

Think about those IG's with 3-5 million followers. I don't know how IG is analyzed, perhaps Nielsen or some data company may be able to calculate the percentage or interaction time per post.  Even if 20% of 5 million followers view a post, thats 1 million people targeted, add in a shoutout and there's more traffic.

I don't see IG going nowhere fast, but the adoption rates of all social platforms will dwindle.  Currently social content is where a lot of marketing spend is, it's the latest flavour of the month.  You can literally advertise to the masses on the cheap.

Anyways, mad props to those who are running accounts on the side - it's a great gig to earn extra cash.

MySpace was the best social network.

Once Facebook introduced the "like" and Twitter gave the ability to follow people and be followed...narcism in this era was boosted significantly.

It went from WE ARE MySpace friends....to I have these many followers or likes. Likes and followers have people the innate ability to measure their social status online. And people naturally bought in to that desire.

Whoa

Truer words have never been spoken.

Rarely post on IG just on it for shoes, thots, cars, lifting accounts. Don't care if it stays or goes :\

I legit only use IG to follow people and search images.

I don't even post anymore. I just like following cars/bikes, sports, (legit) photographers, and searching up shoes/bikes

Post pictures? Connect with other people through photo sharing

IG wasn't created for business. Like I literally only use it as google images.

  @ "king of engagement" when it's probably the least interactive of all the different social media

Also a lot of these huge meme accounts that help their friends get in the million follower insta game by literally telling their millions of followers that their best friend just made a new account. Then these followers will literally mindlessly click on the tag and follow too. They just help promote each other and grow together. Then as they grow they also got outside people giving them money to shout out a certain product etc to their follower base. Thats how they make money.

A lot of them just have multiple accounts and they are promoting themselves.

I got the offer through school since I'm a marketing major and it was just a small part time job I could do while still attending school and just literally working from wherever I was as long as I had my phone or laptop on me. You have to post at the specific times though and can't change captions ect. Very strict about this. You have to always be thinking about it on top of things throughout the day though which I thought might be a hassle if I was doing something that day. They also said I wasn't allowed to follow or shout myself out with the accounts. :nerd:    Funny cause I thought of exactly that when I was thinking about taking it. If it was something other than hair make up, I would have been on it. 4K also is a lot for freshman college student, compared to dining hall workers etc, but I'm not trying to be thinking about beauty products 24/7

Was this an internship, job offer or independent contractor type of gig 4K a month is extremely modest you should have taken it. If you had to run the analytics off Facebook AD's platform that would be one thing but just to make posts that's easy money. I'm guessing you had more profitable projects on hand. As a marketing major myself I find this intriguing [emoji]128064[/emoji]

Wth!? I'm lost

IG pays how and for what? For gaveling an interesting page they will privately pay you? I don't get it...

I could possibly see a big brand buying your page for you to use all your followers to promote, maybe a couple hundred dollars but millionaires? I ain't buying it. What if you take over those followers and they catch on to the account being switched or just not interested in what you are now promoting?

Companies don't buy accounts usually models or very small businesses will buy an account. The 4K a month he was speaking about most likely was bigfer companies paying him to consult/manage their accounts.

I just hate how people can see your friends

People can see what posts you like, comment on, and who you choose to follow .

I did???

You're weird at times, dunno how you came to that conclusion from my statement. Maybe my wording confused you, my bad.
I am not the only one that came to that conclusion. So yea, it was your wording that "confused" me/us.

I can vouch for this. In some cases larger companies do buy a username but usually they just file a trademark claim with IG and obtain the username that way. Smaller businesses and models however are easier to persuade into buying a username.

When it comes to IG, people buy usernames for 2 reasons.

The first and most common reason is because "OG usernames" as they are called are just another way of flexing. People buy them to flex or make themselves feel good. Rich arabs will pay obscene amounts for social media usernames just to stunt on everyone.

The second reason is for marketing purposes. These are called "niche usernames". A username like Cute, Horny, ... would sell for several thousands of dollars due to the niche potential. For example, a fitness page with the username @Fitness is significantly easier to grow than some worthless variation like "fitness.daily"

It was an independent contractor type gig. A marketing/advertising agency based out of New Haven were looking for college students who were majoring in marketing, and I got the lead from a friend in the Marketing Society I'm in at school. I currently don't have a job besides flipping cloths shoes on the side at school, but I also have a busy schedule with technically 6 classes. So besides the hair/make up stuff, that was another reason I decided to pass. I didn't know how it would effect my workflow. It might seem easy simply posting to instagram even if they got everything set up for you, but since I would have to stop doing whatever I'm doing to post, 7 days a week, multiple times a day on multiple accounts, it seemed to me personally I might get tired of it or it become a hassle for myself or people around me. However, I'm currently looking at a marketing internship for LEGO in Enfield CT directly for UConn School of Business students this summer. Deadline is this Monday though and a email for it was just sent out yesterday. Might go for it. LEGO was literally the only toy I played with as a kid. Would be dope to intern there too.
