DISNEY Classics Live-Action Remakes - The Little Mermaid opens 05/26/23

SO excited to see this. Going in a few days. I hope it's everything I expect/want it to be.

Stringer was a straight menace as Sher Khan :pimp:
When he murked ol boy on the rock I wasn't expecting that
Been so lon since I've seen the cartoon version
Didn't even remember if that happened in there
But man
I said "oh ****" hella loud
I thought he was gonna murk the lil wolf cub when they was chillin with him
Yo I was crying when he just picked him up & tossed him like a doll, b

Wolves were straight ***** in this movie, though.

How you gonna let him do your Alpha like that & not do nothing :smh:

Because Sher Khan then becomes the Alpha.

lmao they didn't do anything because they just seen him toss their strongest wolf like it was nothing.

in all honesty though those wolves couldn't do nothing to a tiger. wolves dont even hit 200 lbs...tigers are pushing 700 +

yeah i still think they should have at least tested him though...but they would of all got tossed off the cliff.

I like how those animals were huge compared to their real life counterparts. Sher Khan and Baloo fight was flames too, two heavy weights. Sher Khan just had more agility and more experience.

Movie was definitely enjoyable. I should have seen it in imax RealD. Saw the regular version was still good but the landscapes were stunning would have loved to see them in imax.
Did anyone die in the cartoon version? Thought sher khan didn't die but not sure.

Movie brought back a lot of great memories. Bill Murray and Idris Elba did great jobs with the voice acting. Would watch again for sure

Disney Claims Dates for Several New Movies; Confirms ‘Jungle Book 2,’ ‘Mary Poppins’ Sequel

Hot off the blockbuster success of “The Jungle Book,” Disney has been staking out several years worth of live action fairy tales.

In grabbing the release dates, Disney gave a peak at its development pipeline. The studio confirmed that it is planning to make “Cruella,” an “101 Dalmatians” spin-off with Emma Stone, as well as sequels to “Jungle Book” and “Maleficent.” Angelina Jolie is set to return for “Maleficent” with Linda Woolverton, the screenwriter on the first film, handling script duties. “Jungle Book” director Jon Favreau and writer Justin Marks are returning for another trip into the wild.

The company also confirmed that it is moving forward with Ava DuVernay’s adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s “A Wrinkle in Time”, “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” with director Lasse Hallstrom (“My Life as a Dog”) and writer Ashleigh Powell attached; a Tinker Bell project with Reese Witherspoon set to star and Victoria Strouse (“Finding Dory”) writing; “Jungle Cruise” with Dwayne Johnson set to star and John Requa and Glenn Ficarra (“Focus”) writing; and “Dumbo” with director Tim Burton and writer Ehren Kruger (“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”) overseeing the elephant tale.

In addition, Disney said it is planning a sequel to “Mary Poppins” with Emily Blunt and “Hamilton” creator Lin Manuel-Miranda starring and Rob Marshall (“Chicago”) directing. Given that these films are still in various stages of planning, it is possible that certain projects could fall out. It shows, however, the enormous confidence Disney has in its ability to make live action fantasies. Not only has “The Jungle Book” been a critical and commercial success, but the studio has also reaped big profits with “Cinderella,” “Alice in Wonderland,” and “Maleficent.”

The studio has staked out release dates, but did not say which product would be reserved for which slot. It plans to release an untitled Disney live action fairy tale on July 28, 2017 (as opposed to on previously scheduled Dec. 22, 2017), on April 6, 2018, and on Dec. 20, 2019. The company will also release live action movies on Aug. 3, 2018 and on Dec. 25, 2018. That puts their releases in competition with several major films, among them “Jumanji,” Sony’s animated “Spider-Man” film, and an untitled animated film from “ParaNorman” creators Laika.

The “Jungle Book” and “Mary Poppins” sequels are farther along in their development process and will likely be among the films snagging those dates. This kind of flag planting is becoming increasingly common place. As studios plunge deeper into the tentpole business, they want to establish themselves in prime release dates years in advance.

See below for dates:

Watching this in 3D was one of the best movie-going experiences I've ever had.

The story languished in some parts and there was a scene towards the end, that awkwardly took place at night, which took away from the moment but other than that, it was amazing.

Bout to literally blaze up and go watch this movie. I feel like I'm 6 years old again, I can't wait!

Loved it. Crazy how far special effects have come along. Those animals looked too real. It truly amazed how meticulous the attention to detail was. Straight beautiful.

I might have already said it, but this was one of those movies that I instantly knew I'd like.

You can just tell that the tone, style, music, everything.. it's just perfect for you and you get/like what they're doing. Within the first 2 minutes of the opening scene, I was like "Yep, I love this movie already"

I rarely go to the theaters anymore but this is one of the few flicks I wanna see on the big screen...hopefully I can catch it this wknd

Emma Stone Will Play The Evil De Vil In Disney's Live-Action 'Cruella'

In the wake of the whopping box office brought in by The Jungle Book this weekend, Disney just announced a slate of nine live-action movies based on popular fairytales. Nine!

Among them is a live-action adaptation of the story of the 101 dalmatians and its black-and-white-haired, fur-wearing villain, titled Cruella. No release date has been revealed, but we know who's going to play Cruella De Vil: Emma Stone.

Same!

I'm all for the live action versions of the Disney classics.

They might not all be of the quality of the Jungle Book, but it's a no-brainer for Disney and audiences alike. No sense in redoing them as cartoons since they're already classics, but either give us a new spin on the original story like Maleficient.. or use modern technology to do The Jungle Book like they did.
