Is it bad I don't care to listen to 97% of the hip hop out there today?

You don't seem to get it.

I know Logic sold more than them. That's why I used him. That's why I used Kendrick and Cole.

Why is it the industry isn't copying them?

I think Logic is pretty nice and was impressed by his two albums, but I just can't get past him sounding dead on like JCole and Kendrick Lamar on so many tracks. I have no idea what his natural flow/delivery on tracks would be

Have said the same about Migos too. They're surprisingly good from a technical standpoint, but are just extremely repetitive. For every 15+ track mixtape they put out, you'll get a max of 2 songs with actual depth (Chances and Chapter 1 would be good examples from a recent tape)

Once again how can yall display balance within hip hop with FIVE ALT RAPPERS, one of them being a trend following **** rider & another basically copying his influences styles smh. Also NO BIG KRIT mention AGAIN... :x :smh: Wtf he gotta do to get ppl attention

I barely check for anything these days. Haven't heard the latest KRIT or Gibbs and only heard the new K.Dot once.

Its strange, I feel like I should be keeping up with them but I have no interest. Yet, I think they're all very talented.

Most of the rap I listen to nowadays is either older stuff or bay area mob ****.

I'm aware of gangsta rap and the effects it can have on people though. Its like Kool Moe Dee said, (I'm paraphrasing) its like crack, you know its negative but it sounds so good.

What is 5 ALT rappers?. And what rappers are you talking about. As far as Balance with the biggest rappers today...there is definitely that.

Drake - Pop rap. Hit maker.
Kendrick - West coast conscious with mass appeal.
Cole - Southern/East coast relatable rapper
Future - Southern trap...with bangers and consistent projects

I can't think of who the 5th hottest rapper is. Maybe Nicki repping for the women? But those 4 above definitely represent balance. At least at the very top and most successful of the totemn pole of hip hop.

And Krit is dope. I recognize his talent. He has that old south sound that I like....but something is missing. I really can't put my finger on it.

Ppl named 5 conscious/alternative rappers in here and they were Drake, Kendrick, Cole, Logic & Chance

Drake being the trend hopping **** rider & Logic being the influence copy cat. Chance career still up in the air cause he never capitalizes off his hype & fades away. Kendrick & Cole cool but it shouldnt be left to just them to bring the balance. And i like Future but its already been displayed that not everyone is hearing the substance in his songs. To some hes still mumble rap

Idk who the top 5 hottest are & nor do i really care cause i dont listen to music in that light. Never brought up the top 5 hottest tho lol

Also im confused as to KRITs situation with fans. I think its the heavy southern accent & slang or the fact that it seems like hes preaching in songs. Those are the 2 main gripes i hear from ppl around my way that dont like him

Idk man. Krit is a dope producer...and I love the southern accent and lingo he brings. But I'm not going out my way to listen to a Krit project. And I've tried...and enjoyed it for the most part. But never revisited it. I couldn't tell you why .

"Money on the floor" came on the shuffle the other day though :pimp:.

And honestly, I'll never understand how Clear Soul Forces (Video below) never got a push. Especially being from the Midwest. Like there are worst artist in this same lane that get more shine. "Get no better" has 7 mil views. That was 4 years ago...and none of the big time "conscious rappers" ever reached out, remixed or did anything with a song that to me, is one of the more refreshing and replay-able rap songs of the past 5 years. They put out the "Detroit Revolutions" tape for free..and I actually gave them a few dollars. This is rare, because I NEVER pay for music .

This dude Noveliss (dreads & glasses) is the best lyricist in the game. Seriously.

^^^ Ill give them a shot. Still gotta listen to Curren$y mixtape, Royce mixtape, Elzhi album, Domo Genesis album, Joey Fatts mixtape & that loose song collection from Bankroll Fresh. Theres alot of cool stuff out there, I just wish it was better represented in the mainstream

I feel you, something doesn't hit for me with Krit, either. I respect him and have given him a fair try. I think he's dope but just not a high preference for me. I have replay value issues or something

Money On the Floor is hard as ****. I can't **** with Krit. He's too country for me. He bores me at times and other times I can't understand him. He gotta few songs I like though

2 Chainz went IN on Money on the floor though.

"25 lighters, 25 Cyphers
Went to jail and shared a cell with a 25 to lifer
Stayed at my grandma house with 25 Bibles
Stayed in the trap house with bout 25 rifles"

:pimp:

Right. I feel the same way about Joel Ortiz. ****, the whole slaughterhouse.

Krit is the best overall artist in the game right now. He's Outkast and UGK in one brutha. He just doesn't have a persona of character. He's not a trap _ or a feminine skinny jean wearing dude or a weirdo/nerd. He's just a regular dude. Extremely talented though. The game has only allowed 2 regular dudes in, Cole and Kendrick. Everybody else has a persona. If Krit was rapping over trap beats and throw in some "I used to serve" "Shoot A _" lines on records he would be getting a lot of love. Dude can spit and produce with the best of 'em.

Wack to you but they do make great music for the times now. Again everything does not have to be a lyrical assault or concsious. Ya old dust heads have been left behind and not with he times anymore
dust heads rapped with waaaay more critical thinking than this leaned out percacet/ K2/ lean generation ... its sad when dust heads rap better than this common core **** ya peoples be putting out.

Yeah my dude Krit is super talented, no doubt. I only have one album, so I do need to check more of his music out.

low key, I think I've only heard J Ortiz once in a cypher. Can u dudes rec me some of his best tracks? Thx

What do you have by KRIT? And Ortiz is a great lyricist but hes boring to me. Always liked Royce the most outta Slaighterhouse

Joell is a great rapper. Doesn't get the love he deserves. The Brick is a great album.

Only thing missing in hip-hop right now, are solid group projects.

Growing up Cypress Hill, Mobb Deep, CNN and Wu were my favorite groups. I don't think you will see anything like that in this era but the last few projects from Audio Push were pretty decent to me and those two can actually spit.

Flatbush Zombies are one of my favorite groups but they havent put it all together in their projects. BetterOffDead was pretty good tho

This, exactly this.
Rae Sremmurd is a dope group :pimp:
