Is it bad I don't care to listen to 97% of the hip hop out there today?

Thoughts?
You're not current, that's all it boils down to. Everyone who complains about the "Hip-Hop today" are individuals who no longer stay up on current artist either because they don't have the time or they don't know who to check for. If your point of reference is the stuff being played on the radio, you already lost. There is a lot of good music out nowadays and the internet has made it easier than ever to discover it.

@ 97% though, anyone co-signing this is out of touch.

I think if social media was as prevalent in the early-mid 00s as it is now, D4L, DFG, V.I.C., and Jibbs would be 8 mixtapes/digital albums deep

I've thought about that before. Those ringtone cats would be huge today. I played the Shawty Lo album a few weeks ago and that **** is still hard. He was 3-4 years too early.

Plies should also be mad. His influence is all over rap and social media and I don't see him get any love for it.

Hip-Hop is getting or already is bad because of no gatekeepers keeping the crap out.

THIS & everything mostly sounds the same on the radio so up & coming artist making music that can get them easy radio play.....This NEW TRAP ERA is just down right awful like I don't understand what these labels are seeing in dude like CHIEF KEEF, THE MIGOS, FUTURE, FRENCH MONTANA, RICH HOMIE, FETTY WOP etc....It's not even a substance issue with me it's just these dudes can't rap to save they're lives we need more balance....

So friggin' true.

Believe it or not everybody ain't tryna hear no Kendrick Lamar especially if you got a system. Nowadays "a system in the whip" has a lot of influence.

Yea I don't know who produced any of the sounds, but they laced Units In The City like crazy

Damn I feel bad for you since you don't listen to new hip hop. You won't be blessed with the new Thugger

Rarely listen to rap now, maybe I out grew it but all the new rap songs sound the same to me IMO.

Only really listen to the Weeknd and Electro music/ EDM now

But EDM doesn't? I never understood this argument

Idk man, like if I told myself this like 10 years ago that I would be more into EDM than hip hop I would laugh at myself and wouldn't believe it. The only new rappers I try or want to listen to are Cole and Kendrick but besides that I could care less

But I do seem at peace with that I'm just not into hip-hop anymore. Plus I have been to a billion EDM festivals  (edc 4 times and etc. Love seeing tons of girls at them while I'm rolling
laugh.gif
) Plus listening to a podcast with EDM at the gym is a lot easier for me to work out than skipping songs over and over

Don't get me wrong though I still got love for NaS, Mobb Deep, older Jay-Z stuff
