SFSU student confronts white dude with dreadlocks vol. cultural appropriation

I'm just talking in general. People are offended by everything.

I was at a party and met a chick. We were a little tipsy. I asked her where she was from and it ended up she lived in one of the wealthiest sections of Boston. I jokingly said you must doing okay financially (in different words). We both laughed. Some dude comes out the cut and gets in my face saying "that is so f**** rude. What gives you the right yada yada yada." I couldn't believe it. Dude literally wanted to throw hands over a joke about someone's financial status that that person took as a joke.

It's just hip to be offended.
This is a fact. Someone said something me about Bob Marley cause of my hair. I know the person very well and we crack jokes on each other. Some chick came out of the wood work and basically took offense on my behalf and started going off the rails. I had to explain to her it was and inside joke and the person was like a sister to me.
Did you consider trolling this outraged individual?

Its not about any percieved increase in political correctness, as if being less offensive and more respectful is a bad thing anyway. Its about clowns hiding behind this narrative that anyone who feels offended by anything is faking outrage or wants to be coddled and protected. You cant apply this across the board to every situation regardless of how many misinterpreted articles and videos you post. Its victim blaming in favor of those who dont know how to behave respectfully. I would expect someone banned from a internet message board numerous times to find fault with those whom he offends. Any logical person might think about taking a look in rhe mirror. Dont be an ******* and you wont have the racist/pc/bigot card pulled on you constantly.

Yea I mean it's in Africa, but you can't claim a culture simply because it's on a continent. I don't see Russians claiming Spanish culture or the Chinese claiming Japanese culture.
Blacks are the only people who can claim Egypt. We are the real decedents of the Nubians, Olmecs, and Ancient Egyptians. Regarding this situation they both sound and look dumb.

Blacks can because we really came from there. Fake people, Raciest and impostors don't want us to know our true history.
What about people who were born and raised in a region despite if their ancestors came and conquered. That's like saying modern day descendants of colonials who were born and raised in America cant claim America or blacks from the Caribbean can't claim said island cause their ancestors were from Africa and only whatever native tribe can claim said island.

I know my true history, my father's side is of Irish decent. Have you personally been to Egypt? Raised a family there? Fought for the land? Any type of ties to the land other than a romanticized notion that's more like a coping mechanism for black inferiority?

When my ancestors decided to migrate to North America, by birthright I became American. In a thousand years, people are not gonna call me a descendant of an Egyptian that lived in North America. They're gonna call me "American", namely a "black American". I owe my ancestors progress.

Slavery, segregation, racism, and black inferiority is are very challenging topics. But the only way people like myself who identify as "black-American" are ever going to progress is, if we have foundation. Somewhere. Anywhere. Then build from there.

There's no shame in that.

I dont think the term "African American" is going anywhere any time soon.

You didn't come from Egypt tho

you came from West Africa.  Africa is HUUUUGE, your culture of origin if closer to Ghanaians than Egyptians. BDW dreads were made synonymous with blackness by rastafarians.
You're dumb and ignorant. I look nothing like the Africans that sold the Blacks (Nubians) into slavery.
