I live in Washington heights, i seen Hudson Heights in a sliver of my hood..da name is completely derived from a NY times article and NO ONE calls it that as far as da locals is concerned, and yet Google Maps gave it this level of validity... Smells fishy from da jump.

Any of ya experience this in ya hood? :nerd:

It is a neighborhood famb, not a city, it happens.

When I lived in MD, a new golf course gets built with houses, it pops up on Google Maps some months alter.

People are searching for area/neighborhood, so it gets added.

Man there are a few neighborhoods in DC that have had their names changed by "them." It is funny to me.

I feel like this happens A LOT in NY. A couple of years back, I tried to move back to literally a block away from the house i grew up in Bushwick and the name of the area had been changed to Wycoff Heights. I live in LA now and I see they're starting to do something similar. They're putting up new signs around Mid-WIlshire and Mid-City and dividing them into smaller neighborhoods.

Yes they have, I used to live in Pima County, AZ but now according to Google Maps it is Casas Adobes, AZ

it's this type of mentality that makes people dislike individuals from nyc. get off your high horse

But that has nothing to do with being "from NY."

This is a sentiment of many natives of certain cities that are getting their identities changed by gentrification

Ain't Rydya the same dude that was talking bout NYC needing tomatoes from Cali? Or was that someone else?

I didn't read it as that, he was simply speaking on it happening to his hood man. And he has ever right to be upset and insulted.

He's from NYC so it rubs him wrong, that's actually his neighborhood too....hell in not from the Heights and it rubs me wrong....having your hood renamed for the sole purpose of "cleansing" it should rub anyone wrong....is like the south Bronx being renamed to "Piano District" AND then locals being exempt from attending art expos and events held there....what in the *****
