Has google maps renamed your Neighborhood? VOL. Digital Gentrification

you guys sound so childish. im proud of where im from but im not going to get all insecure and panties in a bunch if someone doesnt share my opinion. which is what you guys are doing.

ive seen most of ny something you guys havent done because you are in a bubble. thinking that nyc is the end all be all. have fun with that

Nobody asked for your opinion on NY tho, NOBODY.

Nothing is worse than people who do it with the colleges they went to. Unless you went to an Ivy or something comparable be quiet with that.

so somebody from IVY league has the right to have college pride but not somebody from Uconn?

my dad went to Yale in New Haven CT an he doesn't give a **** about someone who reps their school.........in fact he thinks most the kids who went there are "squares" (ivy league kids)

i think that is kinda silly bro, they not better than anyone else because they went to IVY

Naw nothing is worse than ppl acting like you have to rep the team where you live and nothing else.

Thats oldschool when ****** aint have cable and all u could watch was ur home team.

Yankees all day though.

A lot of those elite schools have less "school spirit" than those big D1 colleges.

Eg. Compare a Clemson, Alabama, FSU to a Caltech, MIT, Tufts, Hopkins etc.  People are proud of their alma maters for different reasons.

exactly

I've been to Uconn countless of times an lemme tell you something...........pride is skrong af

I did say Ivys and schools comparable to Ivys. What you choose to consider comparable to ivy is up to you but I know what I think that means.

But I stand behind what I said.

Imo a fair amount of those schools in new England are comparable to ivys hence why they're typical feeder schools to ivys.

I'm not here to slander anyone's school specifically so yeah.

Dudes who wear their colleges on their sleeves are in general annoying,if you do that you better be going to a school worthy of doing so.

I'm just asking what your cut off is for it to be "less annoying".   99.9 percent of the people in this country don't go to any of the top 100 colleges/universities in this country.
And they all need to be quiet. For the record this includes myself.

Shrugs.

Never understood why adults care so much about their city and can't stand any sort of negative remarks about it. Especially NY cats

Yo Belgium cat your power ranking stock dropped after that comment b. I'm not even from NY, but don't act like Belgium wouldn't an extension of Germany on the map if the Allies didn't come over and save dat behind. Bet you have pride in that Dutchie

But that has nothing to do with being "from NY."

This is a sentiment of many natives of certain cities that are getting their identities changed by gentrification
which is my point. it happens everywhere. this guy acts like its strange for it to happen in nyc. as if nyc is untouchable and the center of the universe

im not here to throw on a cape for NH nh but..........

as someone who messed with NY heavy, all my life..........you don't get it
i also like nyc but its that 'nyc is the end all be all' that is quite dumb to be honest
its one of 5 international financial capitals of the world, and is THE financial capital of the United States/North America/Western Hemisphere

you could say its kinda a big deal

add to the fact the USD is used in 85% of all monetary transactions in the world, the NYC trading hours pulls the attention of the world, many international economists use EST because thats the time zone NYC is in....as much as you might not like NYC, it is the most important city in the US, even more important than DC

^^^

NYC is, without question, the financial capital of the U.S and North America; but, I'm pretty sure London is the financial capital of the Western hemisphere. London is called the "paper city" and "paper economy" for this very reason. I could be wrong though, I suppose.

Nah, it's definitely the financial capital of the western hemisphere over London. They do alright though.

its arguable, Great Britain will always be big bro, but the sterling isnt even a reserve curreny and yada yada yada, solid arguments could be made in either favor, my bias is towards NYC because im American

Yea most of the nicknames on that map are highly inaccurate

Damn that sucks. They made up a bunch names for areas over here in San Francisco too. But our problem is mostly people moving less-popular neighborhoods and taking credit for "discovering" it. That and nicknaming everything.

Gentrification coming for yall whole joint.

Bout to start calling ya chopped cheese a Philly cheese when you're surrounded by Todd's for neighbors.

RIP

Sugar Hill has been called that name for decades.

I just can't get with "Hudson Heights" smh.

Thank goodness they didn't rename my old hood (Inwood)

How far is Inwood from Washington Heights? A coworker of mine made it clear she was not from the heights, but inwood.
