2016 OFFICIAL YANKEES SEASON THREAD... THANK YOU A-ROD

My vote is for 90 wins on the nose.

Think worst case, we're a 80 win team if every injury possible hits us...

But I'm going 90 without an ounce of homer or hoping... Why?

1. I think Girardi will coach us up a bit. Every year he is able to turn **** into respectability. He over manages at times, but he's a great manager generally.
2. Bullpen will eek out a few extra wins over the course of the season..
3. Think we'll end up making an in season trade or two.
4. I believe there's enough good talent on this team with or without injuries.
5. No one knows what Rays, Orioles or Red Sox are. All are huge question marks.. Blue Jays will be the biggest competition. Blue Jays will mash the hell out of the ball, but that pitching will be a concern. Think we'll do fine against the AL East

Woke up early to work on something. To then get into the gym and home before the game starts.

And it's postponed. This season is going to suck based on this first impression.

Didn't even see this thread til now. Glad I didn't make a power move and buy tix for today.

good: there's no rain in the forecast for tomorrow :smokin

bad: it's supposed to be like 37 degrees :smh:

Hoping for a great season, that's really being hopeful. I'm not sure what to expect but I am hoping for the best.
This will be the first season I will not go to see the Yankees play in Yankee Stadium because I am boycotting that location owned my a bunch of elitist a holes.

Anyone post over at NYYFans? I see something is up with their board, how it's moved over to a different hyperlink yet I still can't access.

It's more so because a lefty is on the hill. And they don't want to stack the entire lineup with lefties..

Think Cash is gonna move him by the deadline this yr? Finally decide to eat some of the money?

If his wrist holds up. No one took him in the offseason because of that; at least I'm pretty sure. I know the longevity of his injury wasn't really noted until a month or so ago.

Sucks being at work while day games are played. I remember when I did delivery years ago I had a late afternoon shift so I was home for so many weekday games.

Yankees' Bryan Mitchell out 4 months after surgery

NEW YORK — The Yankees delivered bad news Tuesday before Opening Day: right-handed pitcher Bryan Mitchell will miss at least four months following surgery Monday on his left toe.

And what exactly four months means is still to be determined.

"We're waiting for an exact timetable for when [trainer Steve Donohue] gets to talk to the doctor, because sometimes schedules don't match up," manager Joe Girardi said. "We have to find out exactly what that four months means; is it he can begin throwing or he should be back? But it will be at least four months before we see him."

Even ardent Yankee detractors can feel for Mitchell here. The righty was not supposed to make the Yankees' 25-man Opening Day roster this season; he seemed destined for Triple-A, a midseason call-up to the Bronx his best case scenario.

Instead, Mitchell bullied his way onto the team with a 0.57 ERA in 15.2 spring training innings, the best mark of any New York pitcher.

Three days before camp broke, he had been informed he made the team as a reliever.

But just 24 hours later, Mitchell was on the trainer's table with his foot wrapped, and a day later a CT scan told him he fractured his toe (official diagnosis: Grade III turf toe), and four days after that learned he would be out for at least four months because of the surgery.

It wasn't necessarily a "freak" injury, but it wasn't common either. Mitchell, pitching a meaningless afternoon game in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., against the Atlanta Braves on March 30, went to cover first base on ground ball to the right side of the infield. When he planted with his left foot, that's when he felt the strain. He later came limping into the Yankees clubhouse, and the rest is unfortunate history.

"I felt something, but I definitely didn't think it was this severe, given that I could still get over to the base and all that," Mitchell said last week.

Last year Mitchell was struck in the face by a 103 mile per hour comebacker, but a small nasal fracture and the seven-day disabled list was all that came of it. Naturally, a short jog to first base ended up far worse for the young righty.

:frown:
