2016 OFFICIAL YANKEES SEASON THREAD... THANK YOU A-ROD

Now that I've digested this, I think it's classless of the Yankees to force him out like this. The corpse of Derek Jetter batted 2nd all year long his final season. A minth if at bats wasn't going to make or break whoever gets called up. They should have let ARod finish out the season. What beneft comes from this?

Yeah, I'm ****** livid right now. Yankees are weak as hell for this ****. They don't want him to get to 700 which he would do if he finished the year. He basically said the Yankees forced this. That 700 is huge to him. They don't want to pay him anything more than they already owe. I think it's a real **** boy move and classless.

Son was on the bench today so Brian McCann could DH. A vet that we're trying to trade that has had an awful year. Alex could have put up those weak numbers today. It's ********. My lady asked to go on Friday and I said **** no. Not supporting the Yankees on that night for this pu**y move they pulled. He should be retiring after the season and DHing everyday this season going for 700. I'm ****** hot right now.

I hope he works out during the offseason and practices 1B maybe go play somewhere so he can get that 700. Yankees really pulled some bull **** today. This **** is weak as hell by them. Cashman really pissed me off with his comments too. I'm not watching another Yankee game this season after Friday.

Yankees have been going downhill since they made those racist *** comments about Cam Newton before the season.

McCann hasn't been awful. Hasn't been great.

But let's not act like he's been hitting behind guys who are getting on base either

You're being a bit too reactionary about the A-Rod thing.

Should they let him play it out? Sure.

But does it matter either way? No, not really.

No one is going to care about him being at 696 or him being at 700 20 years from now

Adam Warren, 6 appearances, 7 IP, 0 ER since re-joining the Yankees.

Bring Chapman back in the offseason...

Warren 7th
Betance 8th
Chapman 9th

Not No Runs DMC :frown: but still very effective

Hell, if they really wanted to go all out, and make a huge investment on the bullpen...Kenley Jansen, Neftali Feliz & Mark Melancon are also Free Agents.

A lot of money just on the bullpen? Sure.

But we also saw that when push comes to shove, if you have the arms in the bullpen, and teams need them, you will get a quality return

Only three people in that 700 club, that's a huge deal. I can't wait to watch those ratings and ticket sales nosedive after Friday.

I like McCann. Happy as hell when we got him but he hasn't done **** this year offensively. Struggling all year long. He shouldn't be DHing, Romine has been better the last few weeks and is playing C over him now.

Getting Mccan was such a pointless move considering we were loaded at catcher when we signed him. Cervelli is a stud, john ryan Murphy was good, and we have great catching prospects.

I don't think they would sign Chapman and look at yet another FA closer, but if Chapman isn't an option, I'm down for a Melancon reunion or steal Jansen away from LA.

None of that was true.

Sanchez sure. But he was a few years away

But Cervelli wasn't a stud, nor was John Ryan good at the time we signed McCann

Cervelli was awesome in his role and deserved a fair shake after Jorge retired. Now he's an all star catcher and i'm not surprised. I know your a McCann mark and so am I but dude wasn't a necessity and his monies couldve been used elsewhere

He was okay as a backup. Good defensively, but he hadn't shown anything on the offensive side at the time.

McCann was a middle of the order power hitter, who was good at pitch calling and framing, and a clubhouse leader, you take that.

We can have legitimate arguments about whether Ellsbury or Beltran were needed, and whether that should have been monies diverted to Cano :frown: But McCann was most certainly a need at the time.

I want all the closers!!!

In all honesty at the time forgot Clippard was signed through next year. But I'd go Chapman 1, Jansen 2. Next year, I think you gotta get another star in the bullpen. So much money coming off the books this year, and next, that it'd be prudent to lock up something indispensable long term.

I remember Cervelli being a good hitter when he got his opportunities. Hovered around 280 and was really clutch. I loved dude and knew he was gonna be a solid player, not this good though. Gimme Cervelli and Cano rather than McCann

Anyway since the season is over..

The team has 3 needs.. 2 things they could also do.

1. Sign Chapman or Jansen
2. Make a significant package for an Ace (Severino, Bird, Judge, Fraizer, Sanchez untouchable.. They can have everything else, one of Torres/Mateo not both)
3. Give Cespedes a long look for DH. If not then McCann, Sanchez & Judge get all of the DH at-bats.
------
4. Trade Gardner. Has to go to make room for Fraizer who should move to the corners, and Judge.
5. Use Pineda or Eovaldi as a piece to an Ace trade. I prefer to keep Pineda because the highs are better, but the injury possibility makes it an even race.

Why you can keep McCann...
-Cespedes will get time in LF, RF for Fraizer & Judge & when Fraizer fills in for Ellsbury. That will give McCann a good 45 games at DH. Keep Bird at 135 games (try to avoid another shoulder injury), that gives him 27 games at 1B. 60 games at C. Puts Sanchez at 100 games at C.

Opening Day roster (If I had the choice)
1 - Ellsbury - CF
2 - Fraizer - LF
3 - Cespedes - DH
4 - McCann - C
5 - Judge - RF
6 - Bird - 1B
7 - Gregorius - SS
8 - Headley - 3B
9 - Castro - 2B

Sanchez - C
Ackley - IF
Hicks - OF (Not sure you need him with 4 OFers on the roster + Ackley who can give you a little in the OF)
Probably a guy who can play 3B off the bench

SP - Tanaka
SP - ????
SP - Pineda or Eovaldi
SP - Sabathia
SP - Severino

Shreve - LOOGY
Adam Warren - Disaster Pitcher / Spot Starter / 6th & 7th innings
Tyler Clippard - 7th / On occasion 8th
Dellin - 8th
Chapman or Jansen - 9th

It really sets us up for 2018 with a team that is on the door step + Has the young talent & the money to spend

Just heard it on Joe and Evan. SMMFH. Makes no ****** sense. Bench him for two lefties and then have him play against a knuckleballer. Yankees looking real foul right now.

I don't understand why everyone is frustrated with this AROD situation. I'm personally glad to see him go. He's been really nothing but a headache for the past 4 years. Let's end this chapter already. He's tainted just like Bonds and the rest of the juicers.

I don't give a **** about PEDs. More than half the league was using. Ex coaches and players have said it. Alex and Barry are two of the best players we'll ever see.

Can't believe Teix didn't even fight that last pitch. Just took it. SMH

They weren't busted but players were using. Torre said before he seen **** in the clubhouse. It didn't matter, it was normal back then.

With A-Rod? We only have 1 from 2009  and to my knowledge no one integral to the late 90s/2000 WS teams were busted for roids.

Because Pettitte only used that one time in '02 right and how about that Rocket Cy Young winner of ours.

Andy has made claims countless times it was for nursing his injuries. Doesn't make it right, but I don't think he was using on the dynasty teams. Clemens is another case as well where he used and is rightfully not recognized/honored by the Yanks. Though, being found not guilty on all six counts of lying to Congress in 08 is in his favor.
