The Official Jordan XXXI Thread

I now know why Westbrook has the hybrid 31s!! The outsold on the 31 is straight trash. The traction is so bad I'm seriously wanting to return them. I damn near did the splits on any major jab step or major slash to the hoop in my games today.

I've played in the who's who of basketball shoes since 1999 and I'm seriously in shock how bad this traction is even on a super clean floor in a gym that just opened.

On a side note I seriously love the silhouette and colour way of the space jam 31. The knitted upper needs no break in time and the full length zoom is pretty unreal. I just can't believe that for an Air Jordan marquee shoe the traction is this piss poor. Back to the KD 9 -!; I guess these are my new weight room shoes.
Damn, that's really depressing to hear.  I have been waiting for the lows to drop and was super pumped to get a few for bball/gym. I love the look of the shoe but if the traction is that inconsistent and garbage, f it.  I seriously don't get why Nike fcks with good things when they have em.  Kobe line which I usually turn to for bball had great traction on the 8's and insane traction on the 9s ...but they switch it up and the 11s have garbage traction.  Same with Jordan, 28/29 had great traction and now they F with it and put out garbage.  Really frustrating for people who want to ball in these as well as use for other purposes.

I really don't get how y'all getting bad traction I had 1 moment of bad traction on a trash floor, but 99% of the time courts I play on are clean and yeah it's great but when I slide to the hs and its dusty it's still good not great but y'all must weigh like 150 or less putting no pressure on the kicks

I can confirm that 23mj88 23mj88 weighs over 150lbs and is pretty damn good at basketball. Traction is bad in these, no matter what you weigh

my son plays in the chicagos and complained about the traction. hes' only 13 and frail, but it was the 1st thing he said after wearing them.

Agreed, traction is awful for hooping on my USA's. Trying to make quick stops or cutting I tend to slide at times. XXX's traction is way superior

I don't know man, but I can tell you this.  The floor I play on is in a gym that JUST opened.  For the books I'm 195 pounds, 6 foot 3 and play a slashing/shooter style.  I kid you not...ANY major aggressive moves on the court literally had me almost wiping out.  I was baffled, I kept wiping and had to focus on my movements so i didn't crash and burn more so than just playing the game of basketball.

I ended up returning my pair....seriously just couldn't deal with that bad of an outsole for $245 Canadian.

that's crazy bro but translucent soles are so sketchy Nike needs to do away with it there's really nothing cool about being able to see through the sole and compromise traction I had the last emperor kobe 11s and had TRASH traction but had great traction in the Achilles heel my ids and red horse idk it's dumb they need to keep it simple and made pure solid soles

Looks like a lot of shoetube type reviewers in here.

I'm 5'3 285lbs and I'm currently bulking up still, but I usually play point and sometimes center.

The traction in these are great for me. If Kawhi can play in these then anyone can. My only critique is the cushioning, should've used a thicker zoom bag.

Hey guys, I updated the OP with a bunch of new PEs. Three Jimmy Butlers, one Andre Drummond, and Georgetown Women, which had a blue toe instead of a white toe like the men. I am having trouble finding good pictures of a lot of these, so if anyone can find better pics or any PEs that I have missed, please let me know!

Shoetube type reviews or not it's an honest assessment.

When your balling in "quality basketball products inspired by the greatest player ever". I expected a bit more.

The shoes great for me personally other than this one glaring issue.

Why did ppl talk about traction issues them use WB as the prime example like he is the ONLY player that wears the 31's in the entire league? 5 or more well known players wear this shoe with this tooling and I have yet to see them do the splits because of the shoe and I am pretty sure they all do jab steps or major slashes to the hoop since they are professionals.

Ppl are always quick to use Westbrook hybrid mode as an example like he is the only player in the NBA that wears the XXX1, there are at least 5 other allstar caliber players that wears the XXX1 and they are not doing the splits on jab steps or major slashs to the hoop. I highly dont anybody on this site plays as much or as hard as ppl there wear these in the NBA. No granted the courts are much better / more well kept then the courts the avg person plays on so that gactors in but ppl using WB as a reference need to stop. Everybody using him for an example does not move like him so it I dont see the point of using him as an example to compare your experience.

Dont know how some people manage to have traction issues with the 31.
I wear them on and offcourt, they have that sticky grip even on a mild dusty stairway in our office.
I played in almost all air jordan models and the 31 are definitely one of the best in performance.

even though people are having issues with the traction

i think that i am still going to pick up a pair to try out...

Still gutted over missing out on the Black Cats. Anyone get a size 13 and change their mind about owning them?

I've played in them all too. It's just an honest opinion from what I experienced. You might notice that most of the guys in the L have solid outsoles as well not translucent. The shoe is stellar for me except for that one thing. Not bashing it just giving an opinion that's all.
