The Official Jordan XXXI Thread

You just answered your own question and contradicted yourself at the same damn time. thanks for reiterating my original point that these have zero casual appeal and are strictly a performance shoe.

Negative ghost rider.

IMO these shoes have casual appeal. It's a modernized version of the I's. With actual comfort.

Haven't seen the Chicago 31s in person - is the sole solid or translucent? I'm wondering if the traction is any better in these?

Only solid outsole so far is Cyber Monday (and upcoming Black Cat), correct? I'm sure not many have played in that one, so can anyone say (besides potentially the NBA PEs) that solid outsoles might fix this traction issue. Just crossing fingers for a low soon WITH solid outsole. Love the comfort and feel of this shoe but had to send back because of inconsistencies on court.

^^^ JB has to release those! they're perfect. can't just be a UNC-exclusive, again...but i fear they will be after the horrible UNC-inspired XXX flopped. surely they'll know a classic colorway like this will do well in the market.

Im about sick of JB not giving us the "real" UNC versions lol. The last few have been fire. ... they give us the boring versions :smh:

Casual appeal is an opinion, however it's been voiced by a variety of people that they believe this shoe has casual appeal. I would agree it does.

Don't think this is a flop either. We shouldn't confuse availability with success. They are two different things.

Thread is lit. I really want a pair of these on court before it's all said and done.

Anybody played in their Space Jams? I wanna know how the patent leather holds up. Scared they might chip or peel when stepped on.

Not even gonna lue, the Lux or "Cyber Monday" looks good. Were they like a QS or anything?

The "Black Cats" don't look too bad either. Is it like all black or does it look like dark grey and black like the "Space Jams". Maybe my eyes deceive me

So what's the consensus? Is the 31 considered a flop? Me personally, I think these are definitely a flop from a casual-wearing perspective. Visually, I think they're decent. The best colorway to date imo is that suns looking c/w. i'd actually rock those. I don't own a pair of 31s and I don't see myself picking up a pair anytime soon for any reason.

I completely disagree and think the 31 is a huge sucess both casually and performance wise over the 30.

I feel like the 31 actually has plenty of casual appeal because it has a simple and sleek silhouette, it doesn't feel or look bulky when worn.

The upper is also overall much more simple, no crazy lines or patterns or monograms, it's just a very simple design, dare I say even more simple than the AJIs?

I tried balling in my Cyber Mondays and couldn't because the traction was so bad.
