The Official Jordan XXXI Thread

Those are the Royal 31s?!  Seriously?!  I thought they were gonna take a page out of the Banned 1s/31s release and just make a black dominant Royals shoe...........JB is dropping the ball again on the 31s :smh:
Exactly ... what a waste

All Star 31's?

Thought the Royals were going to be along the lines of the banned but blue in place of the red. Thought it was posted on the 1st page at one time.
You may have seen the PS of the Royal colorway I made a bit back. DIdn't think it was posted on the first page though but could be wrong. I rarely go to the first page.

edit: ASGs looked different there.

Trying to buy a pair for basketball, but I need it cheap.

I just knew they'd find a way to mess up the Royals

Da **** is that?? Wrong shade of blue. Then we can talk if the back should be black or blue. Either way they did these all wrong

Too much blue imo. Looks more "photon blue" than Royal too.

Well I'm out on this shoe. Have the Banneds and really like them. Haven't seen any other pairs to make me want to own more than one color of this shoe.
Game Royal blue.

I dig the royals personally. They don't have to be super true to the formula the Banneds took or super true to the Royal 1 color shades. Just as a show on their own I dig. But not sure I'll cop unless discounted heavily at this point

Why Westbrook has a Hybrid 31s...

According to Oklahoma City Thunder equipment manager Wilson Taylor:

Westbrook is unbelievably attuned to the tiniest details of his shoes. He has his own personal rack at the practice facility. “Most guys, I can just bring a pair of shoes,” the Thunder’s equipment manager, Wilson Taylor, told me. “Russell wants a certain pair. He knows which are for games, which are for practice. He determines which shoes are coming on a road trip.” When Nike sent Westbrook its latest model, the Jordan 31, he wasn’t happy with the sole flexibility, so he asked the company to build him a special hybrid using the previous model’s sole. Even in that custom shoe, however, the insoles aren’t thick enough for Westbrook, so Taylor replaces each of them by hand.

So a flexibility issue and not a traction issue, though I guess those could be somewhat related maybe. Nice intel.

Sounds like Russ is flat footed. Seriously starting to wonder if he weartested the 31. The show was designed with minimal arch support and no midfoot cradle. If they're continuing to use Russ as the front runner, they need to get him in on the design, fit and function. It's a bad look MJ gets 100% input, throws them to Russ as "wear these"... only to have him publicly wear hybrids because he refuses to wear them.

See.........Biyombo's PEs are what the Royal 31s SHOULD LOOK LIKE.   Biyombo has the true Royal 31s, not this screw-up that JB will try to sell us on April 1st.

Can't believe JB dropped the ball on the Royal 31s

That's what I was thinking when I saw the pic.

Is he above Jimmy Butler and Kawhi though?

They're doing better by trying to appeal to the majority instead of a specific player. At least there's some compromise unlike with Lebron who didn't even wear his own sneaker.
