I didn't have the heart to tell him. If he hadn't already paid and was baggin them up I woulda def said something at the aisle.

Jordan said he wants his signature shoes priced above everyone else in order to appear more elite. I don't see them having an issue with raising the price and I think there would be a significant enough sized market for those that want a performance classic. I could be wrong though. It'd be interesting nonetheless.

I don't think they're too happy about the 200 price point, I think its more of a necessity because of the lack of demand.

please god no. I hope they look nothing like the 1. the melo 1.5 is about the best you could do with a futuristic 1 imo. alpha 1s and the 1.5 with the 2 sole just look weird after the original has been in our minds for 30+ years. when it looks TOO similar it just doesn't work out imo. no thanks on melos with a swoosh or flyknit/updated materials 1s. Other shoes it might work better if they update the materials, but the 1 is just too classic of a silhouette, it's hard to accept even the slightest changes of an iconic look.

I don't know that the XXX1 will look anything like the I's. The I's are a product of the technology that they had in 1984/85, lending to that specific iconic look. Right now, today, the technology available is significant. If the idea for the XXX1 is to start the Jordan line as if it started today, why would the XXX1 look anything like the AJI?  Were talking 30 plus years of technology and innovation for a sneaker line. With that said, I look forward to seeing what we'll get with the XXX1 concept.

It would be an interesting move by the Jordan Brand to promote the Nike swoosh on their flagship model. I don't recall any recent modern Jordan (not retro) to feature the swoosh.

That concept does look great. I wonder what new/better technology the 31 will feature.

These should be miles ahead of anything in the brand at the moment... I expect them to pull something glorifying out azs this time.. I'm not talking continents and 3D toes.

I hope its literally an updated and well made flyknit 1 with a classic looking but high performance sole. Slap a black leather swoosh on them for contrast like the kobe 11 ftb and we're good. Not like the Obama 1s though. I'd like to see the toe rand, lace rand and heel to be noticeably thicker than the rest instead of the one piece look the obamas had. Just start remaking the classic originals again every year but modernized. Start over. I think I speak for everyone when I say there hasn't been a newer model since the 23 thats been 'ok'. We're getting somewhere with the 29 and 30 but they aren't cutting it. So why keep trying to design another classic? Just update them instead. Stop wasting time with trying to come up with new classic. Its not going to happen. You already have the best designs and blueprints in your archive, JB. Just build them with whats available now that you would've used if you could when making them back in the 80's and 90's. 

Kind of like the Jordan 1 alpha I guess just not ugly and perforated. And with the flyknit 2 to follow and not just a one off thing. A flyknit V would be ridiculous.

this is what i had been hoping for for years. the alpha 1 are an excellent shoe. i don't buy retros at all any more, but i would totally buy alpha 2, alpha 3, etcetera.


both the 2.0 and 8.0 were pathetic attempts of the same.

So September 2016 is the initial release of the 31 right?
Hope they dont look like a 29.75 or 30.5 design wise.
Reusing the same basis sole design for the 3rd time would be very lame.
While you keep the inner structure you still can alter more details here and there.

Official end to summer is the autumnal equinox on September 23rd. What difference does it make if this release was labeled a summer release but 9/3 is considered fall to some people? It STILL releases on 9/3 in the SUMMER. Its not like you don't know what date the shoes are releasing

The 30s wouldnt be bad if the 29 would look more different. Im not supporting JB for such lack of efforts to design a flagship shoe.

Totally agree.  “There’s an old saying in Tennessee—I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee—that says, fool me once, shame on, shame on you. Fool me—you can’t get fooled again.”   Please, some of us were #heartbroken when we saw the XXX midsole.  Hurt, betrayed, felt like you mailed it in.  Surely, you've had time to rotate, rejigger, de-couple, re-unlock, or do whatever you have to to the zoom, maybe lunarlon-ize it, or air max-imize it, or free it, or otherwise heretofore potentize it with any of the myriad other patented technologies you have at your disposal.  Just make it look, sound, and above all else feel cool again.  You shouldn't really call a new shoe new when the foot-feel is 92.5% the same as the previous model.  I dig Tinker, and did the whole suspension-of-disbelief thing when they unveiled the XXX...  And when he said you really don't have to change a chassis every time you're up at bat, I almost-almost believed it...  But my gut feeling was that if there was not enough of a change,  just extend the model one more year and build up the mystique.  You're selling a ton of retros anyway... take a breather... go on hiatus... re-charge... and then come out with something mildly mind-blowing. An evolution of the line.  A simple, sleek, visually striking, adaptable, comfortable, and dynamically-fitting piece of wearable art.  With MJs iconic silhouette embedded in the piece. Piece of cake, right?  Totally get it, this is not easy work, it's a labor of love, but it's what some of us ultimately crave.

they work 2+ years in advance of each release. what we will get with the 31 is what they always intended. we got the rush job on the 30 and the late release due to some issue. my money is on mj saying no to something late in the game. someone will eventually unearth what could have been with the 30, some time in the future, but it won't be the 31.
