Were you taught "hell"was forever?

I was raised in the church and no longer be believe but I ran accross this video and it explain how most people were taught wrong about hell including me.




Whether you believe it or see it as a myth, how were you taught about "hell"
 
I think we all were taught it was forever. And we were taught people would actually burn.
But I always saw fire as a metaphor even as a child




It wasnt until youtube era did I learn it wasnt forever

Honestly I felt silly about it because the mostly popular verse says it very clearly.




16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.




Everlasting life is a gift from God.
If you dont have that gift from God you cant live forever.
If you cant live forever you cant be in hell forever.


I see hell as not being with God. "not perish"




Im still blurry on somethings.
 
The true definition of hell is, when you die you meet the person you could have been.
 
"On your deathbed youll be visited by the person you could have been"
 
At this point for me its not.
i know who the best me is and im not him but thats another conversation yada yada yada

but yea its just a quote lol read into it how u wanna.






I do not believe in hell btw.
I was taught it was forever too op.

Taught this, I felt it was a scare tactic. But a lot of the things I've seen in church never made sense to me I.e. Speaking in tongues, praise dancing etc.

I fee "hell" is simple the absence of God.
 
Same I was taught.

I find it strange how people think that a murderer/ rapist will end up in the same boat a person who lived a just and good life. But I respect everyone's beliefs.
 
I was taught you will burn in hell for eternity. Honestly, I was still afraid of the idea that people live forever in heaven.

If you live forever in heaven, is there levels or is there enough land to hold and feed everyone. oing to be a billion people roaming around. How will I find my love ones or if  lets say I want to hang out with MLK or something. I was taught you would burn and die in hell over and over, I would just keep shooting myself of just jump off cliffs all day.
