HTTR 2017 Off-Season Thread | Dysfunction in DC...again |

Yep, Cravens is gonna be a monster. Might have to cop the jersey

Really hope Vernon Adams makes it to us and he shines in his tryout. Would rather have him as the QB project than Sudfeld.

Mel Kiper's Draft Grade:

Washington ********: A-
Top needs: DL, S, RB, ILB
This is one of my favorite classes. Josh Doctson is the top wide receiver in the draft for me, and the ******** got him at No. 22. An absolute steal. Su'a Cravens is a versatile player perfect for sub-packages, and he not only attacks the line of scrimmage -- check the TFL totals -- he'll pick off passes if you test him. Kendall Fuller is a question mark because of his knee, but if he's 100 percent that's an extremely good value in Round 3. Nate Sudfeld is a good developmental quarterback if you can get his mechanics in order, and Keith Marshall could be a steal out of Round 7. Matt Ioannidis has a chance to help them on the defensive line, and I think he has a little Dan Klecko in him. I love how physical these players are -- a theme of last year's class -- and I think several of them can help an improving team get better.

I guess this is why they kept on only mentioning Norman and Breeland. Whelp.

Looking forward to the season. First time in a long time that I REALLY like the direction the team is going. #HTTR

McCloughan announces that the #******** have released CB Chris Culliver.

Not surprised. DB position was getting crowded, and Cully was terrible last year, even before the injury.

Man, I think I'm most interested in our last two picks. Daniels and Marshall. Daniels, according to PFF was a beast against the run. He's got some lateral mobility issues due to being built like a keg, but at the ILB, I'm gonna have my eye on him in the preseason.

Marshall...everyone is saying that if he can return back to his from from his freshman year, Skins may have gotten a MAJOR steal. 5'11" 220 and running a 4.3???? :pimp: :pimp:

NEWS: Reed's new 5 year extension is second largest deal for a tight end in NFL history. Second only to Jimmy Graham. @NFLonFOX

:pimp: :pimp: :pimp:

******** TE Jordan Reed is signing a 5-year, $50 million extension, per source.

22 mil guaranteed, I think.

The ******** have released receiver Andre Roberts, a source confirming what the Washington Post had reported.... http://es.pn/1TkxlSI

TCBlock ‏@tcblock 3m3 minutes ago

If Andre Roberts is designated a pre-June 1 cut, it will create $3M in cap savings and a dead of $2M. Post-June 1 is $4M savings #********

This should be good...

Just a few of your favorite ********! Josh Norman, Ryan Kerrigan & Kirk Cousins! New commercial going down today

That's awesome  Brings back memories of Portis and ST :pimp:

Kirk Cousins is apparently hosting his football camp at my old high school next month

Also, my buddy sat behind him at the Nats game last week

Side note, saw a pic of Niles Paul wearing burgundy pants during last week's session. Hopefully they are making a comeback :pimp:

Will Compton is SO underrated.
The advanced defensive metrics don't like him too much.

The guy I'm really excited about is Preston Smith. Him, Gallette, and Kerrigan are gonna wreak havoc :pimp:

Meh...he seemed to always be around the ball and when he finally got to start, he made the most of his opportunity. He's got A LOT of responsibility.

Kyshoen Jarrett out here watching today. Looks like he's still struggling to use his right arm.

Mike Jones ‏@MikeJonesWaPo 9m9 minutes ago

People w in organization have said Jarrett's career is in jeopardy but Gruden declined to say one way or other.

Mike Jones ‏@MikeJonesWaPo 10m10 minutes ago

Kyshoen Jarrett was watching practice today. Right arm hung badly and looked small. Gruden says he's seen 3 specialists. No further update.

:frown:

Damn, Jarrett was solid for us last season. At this point I just hope the guy can use his right arm again.

We would've been loaded at DB with him though. Norman and Breeland on the outside with Jarrett and Dunbar as well? :wow:

Luckily it sounds like some unheralded CBs are stepping up so far in Dashaun Phillips and Lloyd Carrington.

U see that pick Carrington had yesterday? It was Beckham-esque...

Also, from everything that I've been reading, Dunbar has come back even better than last year. It's an amazing story. Scotty M. really has a knack for finding talent in the most obscure places. Who would have thought a guy who played 4 years of WR at UF would turn out to be project at CB, who becomes really good?

There is A LOT of depth on this roster.

Kirk has no excuses. I don't like Gruden, but he generally knows what he's doing on offense. If Cousins doesn't perform this year I'll be somewhat disappointed.

Excited for the season. All our draft picks were solid too.

Oh yeah, not trying to brag, but I know Matt Ioannidis' brother too. Bout to get them A1 seats in FedEx

Experts rank ******** as tops in NFC East for the next three years

For the "Washington ******** never get respect" crowd, this is how it works: You don't receive respect until you earn it. And the ******** for many years earned very little. But coming off a division title and with a solid base of young talent, they’re now earning legitimate praise.

In this Insider's piece, ESPN’s panel of experts -- Louis Riddick, Mike Sando and Field Yates -- ranked the ******** as being in the 12th best shape for the next three years. They were tops in the NFC East, ahead of the New York Giants (16th), Philadelphia Eagles (24th) and Dallas Cowboys (26th).

It’s not a big surprise. I wrote about their young talent in May (excluding the rookies, but clearly some of them will be on this list a year from now). At the end of the 2014 season, their young talent was in need of a major boost. General manager Scot McCloughan’s first free-agent class didn’t help -- only Ricky Jean Francois remains from among the key signings.

As I've said before, Dan Snyder hiring Scot McCloughan was the most important move this franchise has made within the past 25 or so years.
