Im graduating this Fall with a degree in history and im not sure if it makes a difference if I get a BS or BA.

I always heard a BS is better... Any truth to this?

In my experience, if you have a BS in the same field someone else has a BA you are more likely to get the job.

Can you even pick between BS or BA as a History major?

At my college, BS = more technical majors / BA = liberal arts and Econ

 I've never in my life heard of being able to pick what you want. Your major and how the college has it classified is what you get.

And OP, no. No hiring manager/company gives a damn about BA or BS. They care about how you interview, your potential, and cultural fit with the company.

Lol what

Guess I should give some context. I'm a Molecular Biology major/Comp Sci minor. Our Molec Bio dept offers B.A degrees which are far less rigorous and are aimed at people wanting to become HS science teachers or something else. I have a few friends who got B.A.'s in scientific fields that are struggling to find jobs now.

I'm moreso astounded at the fact that he can still decide right before he's about to graduate

I'd imagine you would tailor your courses earlier right?

Well when I apply for graduation its gives me the option for a BS or BA lol. I'm just gonna go talk to my advisor lol

Wait you can PICK whether you want a BS or BA?
Depending on the major, yes you can. You can get a B.A in Comp Sci at my school

not recommended though
Literally just taking less math classes at my Uni

After college algebra (if you have to take it) none of that math even gets used unless you plan on doing video game programming.

I don't really understand it

Im Computer Science

I have a BA in Economics and I don't think my current job now cared to much about whether my degree was a BA or BS.
