Question to all you OG's

Here's da problem w/ some of ya...ya dont have to spend ya last on da most sought after jordans & nikes...some simple air maxes, dunks, and forces do da job well without having to break da bank every damn time or going thru a damn hassle w/ lines or raffles..

That said? NIKE RETRO section is an unmitigated disaster...

Someone has to tell whoever's running that place you gotta encourage folks to make individual threads for dope NEW colorways of da aforementioned...

All this "official air max thread, air force thread, dunk thread, foamposite thread" etc. Is a pain in da *** when u just wanna know new kicks, and not go thru pages and pages of old releases..thats that sneaker showcase section is for.

you know its bad when you go into a sneaker store and its like you right back in da 90's and every new color of air force I's is a complete surprise....

Cool kicks can be had for reasonable coin if actually presented to.

Shame cuz nike retro used to be my FAV part of NT...

If I haven't found a really good deal on CL or EB, then most likely the answer is no.

Honestly, i never was really into shoes. I came to this forum because of the lulz. Now tho, i buy the sneaker i like -- i just never splurge.

I been copin kicks for damb near 15 yrs and i have never spent more than 200 dollas on a pair of sneakers.
dmp is the most i spent on a single purchase

I think i spent 200 exactly for a pair of royal foams from someone on here.

The kinda shoes i cop now that i actually do like are reasonably priced.

Af1 his
Billy hoyles
Medicine ball trainers
Huarache runners
Ultramarine lights
presto
Tuned am

Things like that.

concerning jordans i only like the og cws..and i have all the ones i ever wanted.

dont like kds.....i like the new brons....the luxbrons for example....i would NEVER pay that retail....but ima scoop em now cuz theyre like 120 ish

with the amount of sneakers out u can always find sumthin dope
eem for the low

Even back when I copped on the regular, I never paid retail or over and never chased after anything that was a limited release. Some of my friends are close to 40 years old but just got into sneakers a few years ago. Dudes are chasing after the same sneakers my highschool nephews and cousins are beasting over and it makes me sick to my stomach.

ninjahood ninjahood I definitely think you right about the NikeRetro section. I think they made all the official threads because there would be multiple threads created minutes or hrs a part from each other about hyped sneakers. I think things have changed now however and it can be tweaked

I don't own many sneakers anymore (like 10) and I only own 3 pairs on Nikes (2 pairs I work in and 1 pair of AF1 id's from like 2007)

Every time I get over 10-12 pairs I sell off and buy a sought after item (clothes, sneakers, jewelry)

I get da good intentions w/ not being spammed with new threads @CelsTheYoungGod, but da downside is these gargantuan sized official threads that resemble ISS/solecollect's heyday swallows up new info and is completely inhospitable to someone

That just wants to get news, in and out, and you can judge da interest in da shoes by how much pages & feedback da thread gets.

You would think you'd want a smooth UI when all these social media IG/Twitter/fb pages compete w/ us for eyeballs...

The older I got the more I realized shoes ain't worth **** and are meaningless. My Jordan collection went from around 120 pairs to 12 pairs currently. That being said I still buy kicks because I like them and have the money to do it responsibly. I just realize that at the end of the day they don't mean **** it's a guilty pleasure of mine. Most of my Jordan I get on swoosh but I did pay retail for a 2nd pair of white cement 4. Just don't take it too seriously. I handle my responsibilities so I can cop a 250 sneaker and not feel guilty about it as opposed to back in the day when I would spend my last on some Jordan's. Now that's irresponsible. If you got your life your paper and your priorities in order getting kicks is harmless. If not it can be extremely harmful so just be mindful of what's important and keep things in prospective. Peace!

*ps spending a stack on kicks is OD to me. My sealing is 400

I pretty much stopped about 8 yrs ago when my daughter was born. I would buy the holiday Jordans for myself as a bday present but then I stopped that. Last pair of sneakers I got that cost a lot were when my wife got me the Playoff XII's and she paid over retail to get em a week ahead :smh:

But the cost outweighs the reward, I have sneakers that I haven't worn in years, hell, I'm trying to sell a few pair of Jordan's that I think I can get a good penny for.

i basically only wear vans now, just got some flyknits though for the gym

Don't know if I"m an "OG", but my input-

Nah, I don't. I still trade / sell some when I see fit, but I still have about 35 pairs in my closet. Kept my grails.

Reasons vary, but the main one is I wear dress shoes 5 days a week, and on the weekends I mainly just sit around and whatnot. But if I go to the mall or go out I'll put on some Jordans.

Once I saw retail going up, raffles, the huge boom after the Concords, I felt like things wouldn't be the same again and I dropped out.

To be fair though, quality on some of the newer Jordans is okay. I just can't believe they're raking this many people over the coals with these prices and horrific colorways. :x

I buy my son a decent amount of Jordan's, but besides him I haven't bought myself a pair since the black 3s which was 2011 I think. I wear dress shoes most days and when I'm not wearing dress shoes its usually slip ons or flip flops. I buy running shoes about every 3 months. I just feel too old to be wearing Jordan's with everything like I did back in the day. Plus not working for Nike since 2006 it is hard for me to pay retail when I was paying less than 100 for every release for many years.

Nope

I'd rather spend that much money on Chelsea boots or another pair of wing tips or some clarks

If sneakers, some nice looking comfy Sauconys

I mean i copped those for 30 and some sl loops for 47. Not spending more than 100. I used to drop 200+ on some older retros, pink/silver sbs, or some OGs

Not anymore doe

I definitely agree with @sckid20  , when starting out, you have to tell yourself what your limit will be. For the most part, I haven't paid over $200 for a pair in all my years of collecting. I did a few times, and that was only in recent years I've done it. I think spending that amount on a regular basis is absurd. I've always loved kicks and always will but I'm moving into the phase where I can see myself being just fine with admiring them and not necessarily buying them.

Everytime i say that to myself they keep pullin me back lol ^^^

I thought i was straight with retro bball kicks.....black more uptempos drop.

Thought i was good wit forces.....remastered his drop.

Who am i kidding tho i think ill always be buying sneakers.
like this was never a phase to me.....its my hobby.....i can honestly say now itll probably be a lifelong hobby.

I think im in the minority in the general forum tho cuz wenever sumone posts a question about sneakers theres always that "this genersl we dont care about sneakers. .." ....i do lol.

Its nerd like.

but yea i can stop buying and just admire them too....like people admire cars.

I seen your collection post too beh 8)

Its crazy let's just say i spent 1600 on shoes in the last 1.5 year. This not including my splurge in HS when ibracked up shoes back in 06 and **** but it was hella cheap then. Now it's crazy.... Imagine what I could've done with that 1600. And I ain't even including some Versace loafers I bought for $800. I just see shoes i buy. Im doing better. I stopped at Carolina foams. And said that it's. But fell to the red foam pros

I've said I was done numerous times, but you have to draw the line somewhere. I have 4 left I'm targeting and I'm done. There are some you have to just learn  to let go. @sckid20, you're right, it is nerd like with shoes . I think because I've always loved basketball and been a fan of it, I've been drawn to the shoes. That's what does it for me.

This thread comes up once a year and I aways contribute so why stop now?

I am down to literally 6 sneakers now.

WC4

BRED, 6,1,4

CP Achilles

CDG Chucks

As far as sneakers in general, I love them man, that will never stop. I have been eyeing Royal 1's and when I can get a pair for 500 I will pull the trigger for sure. I also find that wearing sneakers on the weekend > ****, I even wear CP's to nice restaurants. Point is, if you appreciate sneakers it doesn't mean you are immature, your appreciation alters over time, and my collection has gotten smaller, but worth more. I also never double up, makes me appreciate and WEAR my sneakers that I have, I would never buy a 500 pair of sneakers when I was first getting into shoes, but once your taste sharpens, income rises and your collection shrinks, having those 5-10 sneakers you love outweighs the closet full of sneakers you never wear and H&M clothing to go with it. I'd rather buy a 300$ pair of jeans, than some brons but hey does that make me better than the next man? Just different obsessions I suppose.
