Never really gave prince a chance but purple rain (the song) came on in my car and I was just like

I hope not, but I am starting to suspect the industry knew this was coming.
This year, VH-1 started playing the hell out of Purple Rain seemingly no reason at all.

There a lot being said, most of it speculation and a lot of it untrue. VH1 has probably played purple rain at least once a month since they came on the scene....

Was driving back from a kids birthday party yesterday. Had the kids in the car flipping through some radio stations.
And Z100 of all stations in NY played "Raspberry Beret". I'm singing along while I'm driving like a ******* fool.
